I forgot to mention that the automatic potato peeler worked absolutely mahvalus - on perfectly round potatoes. If they were long, they couldn't "roll" properly, so the potato would lay on one side and the blades kept skimming the same part over and over again.......
The thought was there and I appreciate that she tried to do something nice for me..........

I thought that I would remember some of the strange stuff I have gotten. I know there have been some odd stuff. But the only one I can think of right now is the year my dad and step mom got every married kid the same thing. You must understand that I am the oldest and have the biggest family. I also love to bake really good bread. Well, they gave me a bread machine along with everyone else. So I tried to use it. It was just mean. MY house smelled good but I had 5 kids so each of us got a small piece. I then gave it to a friend who had the same problem. It then went to a single mother with one child who used a crock pot. Much better home for it.

At one time, I used to make a lot of TV style dinners and freeze them. Than all I had to do was grab one on my way out the door and I had a homemade meal for my lunch.

One day I was complaining to my sis about getting blisters from peeling potatoes. That christmas, I got an automatic potato peeler. The funniest part of it though, was that when they brought the package over, I picked it up and asked if it was an automatic potato peeler. (This was totally off the cuff and spontaneous! I was just being silly, or so I thought.) Of course she wouldn't answer, but I realized that year that when I guessed what what in the packages, and guessed correctly, it really hurt her feelings. So I stopped guessing (at least when she was around)

When I was heavier, my dear mother tried to find things that were "nice." She gave me a paisley velveteen jacket. I smiled and thanked her. Later, my DIL asked me what I had received. I showed it to her. She rubbed it a few minutes and said it looked like a sofa. We laughed and donated it to a thrift store.

Love my mom, but she has a hard time shopping.

What is the strangest gift you have been given or given to others?

"White Elephant" or other wise.

You know the one where you look at it and think HUH?
