Secrets of Success

Dance Break! Then Write

Sometimes a quick walk or movement is something i need to get away for a moment and staying positive, especially when negative thoughts come on. If you have an office with a door, or in your room, (or in public, or anywhere you feel), pick an uplifting song and just dance it out like nobody's watching! Break out any dance move that you feel coming on. This always gets me happy and motivated for the day. I like Justin Timberlake songs (like, Can't Stop the Feeling! (the video for this song is also fun and helps put a smile on your face)) or Tom Petty songs (like, American Girl or Won't Back Down). This also counts as movement and gets your heart rate going, so if you want to go for a walk or jog afterwards, it's a great start to your workout as well!
After i take a short dance break, i am able to think a bit more positively and say to myself "hey, i just danced it out, so the day can be better." The little pep-talk after the dance also works, but i have to dance first!

Another way to stay positive, especially at the end of the fay, is keeping a journal. I have also found that journaling has helped me stay positive. I get to write out my feelings and reflect back on any and all experiences that i had over the course of the day, and look forward at challenges that i may have and find a way to overcome them. Putting your thoughts down on paper really does help organize them and can take off a lot of stress from your mind, and that keeps me positive. I can also then look back on my thoughts and thought process, especially when i come up against similar challenges. I also know that my head is much calmer when i journal at night, so i try and do so before i go to bed.
