Secrets of Success

Salt Is Handy

By accident, I discovered a handy trick to stop eating when I realized I was full - it's so trained into me that I should 'clean my plate' I often eat more than I really need.

When I was eating supper a couple of days ago I accidentally put salt on my food when I was reaching for the pepper shaker (the shakers are ceramic so I can't see 'through' them to know what I'm grabbing) I rarely put salt on anything so I was a little upset with myself that I'd 'spoiled' my broccoli.

I shook off what I could and finished my veggies - but I realized later that I could use this idea to 'stop' me from eating more than I require.

When I'm done my meal I'll shake an excess amount of salt over it and it won't tempt me to feel like I have to finish my plate.

As I get better about portioning only what I need, this tip will become pointless - but for now this is one way I can stop myself from eating too much when my stomach is 'full' and not be tempted to overdo it just because the food is sitting there on my plate.

Good for you. You've found a way to solve a problem.
I have found if I serve from the stove rather than place serving dishes on the table, we eat our servings then we aren't tempted to get seconds. It is even better if I put any leftovers in storage containers before we start to eat.Whatever works for you is good. emoticon - by POSEY150
