UPDATED 1/1/20
Well - here we are two years after my last update. Luckily only a few pounds heavier, but not where I had thought I could be. I keep saying I'm going to lose weight, but hope this is the time that I can make it work. I'm going to reset my weight goals and take each day as it comes. Some will be good, some will be hard, but I hope to make progress. That will be my main goal for the year.

UPDATED 1/1/18
I am in pretty much the same place as I was last time I updated my profile. Although I had two kidney stone procedures this fall, that shouldn't be an excuse for not doing better. I did manage to lose 2.5 pounds over the course of the year. Since this year I turn 60, I am determined to take the time to take care of myself.

I have reset my starting weight and will be dedicated to getting more movement and drink more water this year.

Thank you to everyone for your encouragement on this journey.

UPDATED 8/13/17
OK - time to quit kidding myself and get on track. I have stayed in the same 4-5 pound range since the beginning of the year. I have decided that I have to do this for me. I will be 59 next month and refuse to be in the same place next year when I turn 60.

I have reset my starting weight and will be dedicated to recording every bite that goes into my mouth. I can't exercise yet due to the surgery I had last week, but hopefully am cleared within the next 10 days to get back on track.

UPDATED 11/19/16
I have gained the weight that I lost in 2014 plus 10 pounds. I also have had issues with my blood pressure in the past year. It is now under control, but requires medication to keep it in check. I need to lose weight and exercise in order to regain my health and enjoy more of life.

I almost started a new profile, but decided that I didn't want to lose the history that I have here. So I am going to reset my weight and measurements for where we are today. My daughter and I are both going to try and lose 10% by the end of Janaury. That may be a little ambitious, but we need a place to start. I'm hoping we can encourage each other to stay on track.

I come here almost everyday to check the blogs - looking both for updates on how people are doing and inspiration from those who have had success. Thank you for your support.

UPDATED 7/13/15
I have been on here off and on for the past several years. Last year (2014), after really watching what I ate and regularly exercising, I lost about 17 lbs. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but it was the first time that I lost more than a few pounds, so I was pretty happy about it. Well, since the beginning of this year, I have gained almost everything back.

So here I am again - really going to keep track of everything I put in my mouth and get moving some everyday. I read lots of blog posts and there are so many inspirational stories on this site. I know I can do this. Thank you for your support.

Move some everyday.
Eat a better variety of foods.
Portion control.
Drink more water.

Make exercise a priority - no excuses.

First work on losing 10% of my body weight.
Clean up my diet - less processed foods and more fruits and vegetables.

Establish a regular exercise routine that I can maintain for the rest of my life.

Stay within my calorie range most days of the week.

Do something active at least 5 days a week.

Personal Information:
I have been happily married for 36 years and have two daughters (33 and 28). As I move into my 60's, I know it is time to make the changes that will carry me into my 70's and 80's.
