I'm approaching the end of my twenties here shortly, and have recently come to realize that I've not once, in the last fifteen years, been comfortable in my own skin.
In high school my weight fluctuated quite a bit, and at one point I turned to anorexia as an escape and a way to gain some control in my life when I was having a difficult time. Ever since, I've had a love/hate relationship with food.
In college, I gained the freshman 15+ and hated myself and my body even more. The more depressed I got, the more I gave up hope that I could change.
In the last 8 years I have had some very high highs, as well as some very low lows. I was lucky enough to meet and marry the love of my life, buy a house, find an amazing job, and yet somehow through all that I still couldn't find a way to be happy and comfortable with myself and my weight.
I'm among the group who are lucky/ and cursed to call themselves 'skinny fat'. From the outside, I people don't seem to notice when my weight starts to creep up, but no one really knows how it feels on the inside. Not being comfortable in your own skin makes almost every day a challenge.
So, I am here and hoping that this will be my last 'I hate my body' day. I'm ready to jump in head first, and really get my life on track. I'm ready to be the best me that I can, and when I blow out the candles on my 30th birthday cake, I want to know that I left my 20's with a bang.
