I've tried all sorts of things over the years, but gradually it all comes down to basics. As one of my friends said recently, you have to keep track of what (and how much) you eat and how (and how much) you exercise: your body already does, so why shouldn't your brain!

My body is currently registering that although I've worked out with a trainer for a good part of the year, that isn't doing much for me. Sure, I must have gained muscle, but I haven't lost inches or pounds. I clearly need to do more cardio and exercise for longer. It's also telling me that I overate quite a bit on vacation (which was longer than usual). And that I eat late at night without registering it. And that the afternoon I sometimes eat instead of taking a power nap.

I know what works and what doesn't, and now it is simply time to do what I have to do, no matter what or how many obstacles stand in my way.

Living life by the numbers:
1lb = 3500 calories
Calorie restriction = 7x 250+ = 1750+ per week (up to 4200)
Exercise = 7x200 = 1400
More exercise = more calories burned = more weight loss

The numbers work! So now I am doing C25K....

Fitness Minutes: 7,321

My Goals:
5lbs per month, to a total of 30.

October 31 weight loss: 5lbs!
December 15 weight loss:
January 21 weight loss:

Increased fitness and stamina. Better shape.

Contentment with life.

My Program:
Calorie intake: 1200-1550 per day (though SP keeps moving this if I exercise more!)
Regular meals.

Exercise: 30 minutes of cardio per day, total of 210 per week (can make up for missed days). Ideally burning 400+ calories per hour

Better sleep patterns.

Personal Information:
I live on Long Island, and I'm a busy mom of 2 boys (10 and 7), working part-time as a classical musician, which means I travel (sometimes near, sometimes far). Living in suburbia, managing multiple people's lives, being on the road and with an erratic schedule, all make for many opportunities to eat poorly and skip exercise.

Other Information:
I like to swim, ski and hike.

    The music that I have now works well. I tried it yesterday. It will keep me from going out too fast. The last race was much too quick a start and I ran out of gas! I'm going to try not to do that next Saturday.
