"Life is not easy for any of us but what of that? We must have perserverence and above all, confidence in ourselves." Marie Curie

What a great quote from a woman who was truly a standout in her time. I like it because it reminds me that no one has it easy. I often see people who look like they have it made, a twinge of jealousy. Then I get to know them. Their life is no easier than mine....just different. Different challenges and some of the same challenges.

We are all here at Spark people for one reason....to improve ourselves. The specifics are different....but the idea is the same.

Spark People helped me get back to a weight where I was happy. Now my challenge is to perserve with goals and living healthy.

How to do it:
1) Be consistent. Log in your food. Even that itsy bitsy peppermint patty. It'll keep you honest.

2) Exercise almost everyday. We weren't made to be sedentary. Crazy schedule? Try just 10 mins. Ride a bile around the block. Situps/pushups before you dash to work. Jog while you wait at ballet practice.

3) Find support. We all are doing variation of the same thing. There are so many spark teams...you'll find one with similar interests.

4) Set specific goals and set specific rewards for those goals.

Hey Jana! Thanks for the comment on my blog. How did you feel about the race? I checked out the time for a Jana from Jacksonville, and since you said you had about a 3 hour drive, I assume it was you... WTG!! Awesome time! I look forward to reading your story if you ever feel like composing it.

Hey there. Life is busy. I realize that. Try setting aside a quiet hour all to yourself this weekend so you can organize your thoughts about how the past year went for you. Include your accomplishments, your set-backs, your goals for 2009 and how you plan to get there. It may be just the ticket to shake things up and motivate you to reach your goals.

Jana - Glad to see you getting more involved with SITD—there's so much motivation there! Thanks for your support on my blog...it feels good to spell it out: accomplishments, set-backs, and goals. Good luck in 2009.

Hi, thanks for dropping by my SparkPage. Yes, those are pictures of my husband and I sailing our 20' Hobie. I'm trapped out in both pics.
I totally enjoyed reading your SPage and your Blogs and very much related to all you had to say. I feel the same way about skiing as you do with running. I also just started running - well....not like you do, but I run 2.5 mi every other day. I have a 3.5 mi run in a few days, which I do every year without training (stupid, I know!), but this year I'm actually getting in shape for it. I think I may start running regularly if my back and knees can take it. I'm almost 55, so I have to be realistic - running's not the best on the joints. I run 10-minute miles - maybe I'll be able to speed that up a little, but for now, I'm happy with that.
Oh yea - meant to ask - what/where do you sail?
