Hi I'm Bonnie.
I've been a member here at Spark People for over 5 years now and have lost weight, gained it back and lost it again, like many people.

My motivation has always been to get healthy so I will be around to watch my grandchildren grow up. With the birth of our latest little granddaughter, that's 11 good reasons to get healthy.

But these days, my motivation has changed, it's become more selfish if I can use that word - more for my own self. Back in February, I began to develop vasospastic angina with no coronary artery disease in the larger heart arteries.

In plain English, I am experiencing heart attack-like symptoms, but not actual damaging or life threatening heart attacks. The pain is bad when it happens, but it is manageable with meds and lifestyle changes (yep, you guessed it - good old diet and exercise). Pain can really be a tough, strong motivator.

So in February, I started on a low sodium diet and have been working hard to stick with it by revamping my favorite recipes and finding lots of new ones. And the weight is coming off. I have a lot to lose, but the doctor says if I can just lose 20 more pounds right now, I should feel a BIG improvement so I'm working at chipping away at the weight in bite sized chunks.

Spark People is a great place to do that with all the tools, information and community support.

My Goals:
General Goals:
1. To lose weight and get healthy so I'll be around to watch my grandkids grow up.
2. To exercise as I am able with my heart symptoms.

Specific Goals:
1. To be able to walk a mile - even if it's in little pieces. The idea is to feel better, not to run a marathon.

2. To lose 20 pounds, then another 20, then another 20 until I reach my goal weight.

My Program:
1. Keeping my calories and other nutrients in the SP range

3 Make healthy choices when eating out or away from home that are lower in sodium

Personal Information:
I have to giggle because everyone thinks I'm from the state of Indiana. Sorry - never been there, but I did live in Indiana, PA for several years which is where my screen name came from.

Now we live in Central PA where I am a writer, mentor, card maker, pastor's wife and all around crafty person.

I have 2 published novels - Daughter of Lot published in 2005 and Daughter of Scarlet which was released in July 2010.

    Thanks so much for checking on me. Things have been so extremely busy. However in almost exactly 6 months, one week after Resurrection Sunday we had service in our sanctuary. God is ever utterly amazing. Iwant to get back to posting but work has been highly time consuming. Trusting God to bring control back to my day. Blessings to you.

    The flowers and blossoms are filling the air with the smells of Spring. This is the time to start preparing for the Summer. Are you ready to join a Challenge? The Biggest Loser Challenge is looking for members for it’s next Challenge starting the first week of June.
