I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you! Just checking in and offering a little bit of support. Btw, that note from your sister was hilarious! I need a little bit of that ego :)

Thank you. Though I wouldn't say I don't gain--I have a lot of daily/weekly ups and downs (remember that my hip flaring up can add 5+ pounds literally overnight) plus the last year of grad school I gained 15 pounds despite the fact that I was exercising while eating very little (stomach hated me and I had trouble eating period). I knew it was stress, and since I graduated I've LOST those 15 pounds (despite the fact that I actually ate junk for the first 6 months because we moved so much--which reinforces that a big part of the problem was stress) but I do gain. Mostly I seem really good at maintaining pounds or sllloooowwwly losing pounds while maintaining or losing inches. I am stronger and fitter and over healthier than when I started, but only marginally lighter and somewhat (subtly) thinner. People tell me they can see the difference, especially in my face and hips, but it's hard for me to see. Which is why I feel like a spark fraud *grin*

I can at least see my progress in other ways--I can walk longer, farther, and faster, I'm significantly stronger and able to do activities (like fencing!) I couldn't do when I joined sparks, my health markers (blood pressure, cholesterol, etc.) are better than ever, etc. Now if only I can get the scale to cooperate! emoticon
