"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us." - Albert Schweitzer
“If you want to make your dreams come true, the first thing you have to do is wake up.”
― J.M. Power (You can take this two different ways)
“Be willing to stop judging against yourself. Bad urges don’t make you a bad person.”
— Deepak Chopra-
Life is what I make of it. I have control over my own life. I gain strength from struggles I have won. I gain wisdom from my experiences. I gain joy from the love in my own heart.

A light supper, a good night's sleep and a fine morning have often made a hero of the same man, who, by indigestion, a restless night and a rainy morning would have proved a coward.- Lord Chesterfield, diplomat
"Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else."—Judy Garland
A smile is a curve that can set a lot of things straight.- V. Borge
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm. — Ralph Waldo Emerson
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.- Martin Luther King Jr.

I was always looking outside myself for strength and confidence, but it comes from within. It is there all the time. — Anna Freud
Understanding happiness (from healthy reflections)

A Great Obstacle To Happiness Is Expecting Too Much Happiness! -Bernard de Fontanelle

Happiness is a state of mind, not a way of life or a destination. Satisfaction can only come from within, through truly accepting yourself, your life, and your circumstances.

My body is strong and healthy and can become healthier each day!
I love fresh produce!
I'm calm and relaxed!
I have the freedom and confidence to enjoy my life!
My life belongs to me and it brings me pleasure!
Nothing is hopeless and problems are there to be solved!

1. Don't say anything to yourself that you wouldn’t say to someone else.

2. Look at the whole picture. No matter how persistent a problem seems to be, it is never the whole story.

3. Ditch the drama. Is it really going to ruin your life if it takes you an extra day or two to reach your goal weight?

4. Reward yourself for right thinking. Establish goals (streaks) for verbally treating yourself with the same respect and care you offer to other people; for staying focused on positive solutions; for keeping things in perspective; and for acknowledging your successes.

When you take responsibility for becoming your own best friend, supporter, and coach, a whole new world of possibilities will open up for you.

Energy of a certain quality or vibration tends to attract energy of a similar quality and vibration.

Whatever you put out into the universe will be reflected back to you. "As you sow, so shall you reap." We always attract into our lives whatever we think about the most, believe in most strongly, expect on the deepest levels, imagine most vividly.
First Agreement "Be impeccable with your word"
Second Agreement "Don't take anything personally"
Third Agreement "Don't make assumptions"
Fourth Agreement "Always do your best"

You can't control how or when things change, but there are a few important things you can control during change: the words you say, the dominant thoughts you have, and the feelings you allow yourself to feel. You're on your way to becoming a change optimist when you stop trying to control your outside circumstances and work instead to control what goes on inside you.

Today, begin to control your words, thoughts & feelings:

Become aware of the language you use to describe the change you're experiencing. You are what you say & tell people you are, Trade "victim vocabulary" for words that are uplifting and empowering.

Notice your thought patterns. When you change the way you think, you tap into your inner voice. You control the movies that play in your mind. You can make them bright, dark, negative, lonely or uplifting.

Prevent your negative emotions from dominating you during change by remembering that all feelings-both the positive and the challenging-become your compass while going through change. They help point you in the direction of feeling better by alerting you to how you don't want to feel.

Remember, at the point when you feel most "stuck," if you can speak different words, think slightly better thoughts and get in touch with how you're feeling, you can become unstuck in a matter of minutes.

Things are progressing. It is such a nice surprise to see you on here. I love it and could not do what I'm doing without it. emoticon That's me, lol. Thanks for the cleaning bucket. I would love to have a spring cleaning party. Do people do things like that? I managed to paint a few walls and am slowly making my way through the house but the clutter and dirt are always ahead of me.

Hey! Nice to see you Ruth! I'm doing REALLY well, thanks for checking up on me.

Exercise is pretty consistent. I joined a biggest loser challenge last year which got me to push past my comfort zones. Right now I'm doing it on my own again. Just came back from a canoe trip that was really a portaging trip. Quite challenging on many levels but I was very happy with what I accomplished. I'd been preparing with shoulder and back exercises for weeks prior which I'm sure made a difference.

Food went through some radical changes when DH and DD went gluten free. We had a lot of guests with special food needs. So... lots of new recipes trying to make gluten free healthy. Some are paleo and some are specifically for dairy and gluten free. It has thrown me off because my DD has to do bloodwork eating gluten now so we are back on wheat for a few months. I also have all the family home and there are stressers. They seem to be slowly working out but I reach for foods when I get emotional or after the crisis still and sabatoge my good efforts.

At least I can say I'm staying on track. I am below 220 and have been for a long time but 200 is elusive. I fit into a XL for many items of clothing now which is delightful. I feel pretty good and my blood work has come back "normal" for everything although I am still on some medications. It is wonderful progress, slow and steady.

The bed and breakfast is doing really well. Our finances have stabilized. My puppy is feeling her age with some back leg problems so stairs are a challenge now. She is 12.

Goals - I bought a dress for a wedding I need to still fit into in August so no more emotional eating! lol. Continue with the exercise and good eating choices. I think, writing this, that means no more desserts and goodies in the house but I just bought cream cheese to make a birthday cheesecake for my DD. Hmmm. Have to think about that. Snacking at night is also a more regular event. We have been watching TV in the evenings. Lots of ways I could "lose it" and things to focus on. I know that it is 90% about the food because I am very active.

This seems like a very good blog for me, lol. I should cut and paste. So I hope you are on track. I remember you were eating vegan and dealing with lots of changes with jobs and housing. Hope your puppies are well too. Come visit me any time because it was very nice stopping into your page!

Hi! Just a shout out to congratulate you!

You are the recipient of the Beautiful Woman Award!!

"Once you've been given this award, you have to paste it on the page of 8 women who deserve it. If you receive more than 3, you know you're really beautiful! If you break the chain, nothing will happen, but it's always good to know someone thinks you're beautiful inside and out!"

    Again, Congratulations Beautiful!

Thanks for spreading a little beauty, love, friendship, and support into my life!
