We are living in the day full of selfies, and with that I have been living in denial. It has been easy for me to say "I use to weigh 140 pounds" or "I use to workout 2-3 hours a day" .. but the truth is, I don't weigh 140 pounds and even though sometimes I do workout for 60-90 minutes it is not consistent. I use to be overweight, most of my teen/adult life. In 2006 that all changed and I was committed to losing weight. I went from 230 pounds to 150 pounds in less than a year! Then in 2009, after having my third baby, I discovered the gym and my world changed! I only lost 10 pounds, but I lost FAT, lots of it! I started toning up and slimming down. I was so involved in this new healthy lifestyle of being vegan and focusing on getting enough cardio that I didn't think I would ever gain weight. Then in 2011 I found out I was expecting my fourth baby. With my other pregnancies I worked in a fast-paced job up until I went into labor so even though I always did gain about 80 pounds with them I ended up losing it within a year of giving birth. This time around I could tell it was going to be different, I was constantly sick and the only thing I could keep down were sweets, so that is what I ate and ate, for the first few months. At my 6 month mark I was put on severe bedrest, I wasn't hospitalized but I couldn't move around the house without going into labor. I have an older daughter who at the time was 16, she kept the house clean, she cooked, did laundry and she took care of the 2 younger boys (they were 5 and 10 at the time) and I sat and slept and ate for 4 full months. I gained 85 pounds, which was normal for me, except it was all fatty weight, not baby weight. During that time I became addicted to food and is something I am still working on controlling, the day I left the hospital I had only lost 2 pounds. I was so devastated! 6 weeks later I had tubal ligation surgery and I fought an infection that kept me bedbound for a few weeks longer. By the time I was up and able to move around I had lost about 15 of the 85 pounds I had gained during my pregnancy. My "baby" is now 2 years old and will be 3 in August. I have 55 more pounds to lose before getting back of my pre-pregnancy weight. I am tired of looking into the past and feeling the disappointment of "how I use to look". I'm tired of being blind as to what I now look like. I have been in the dark for the last two years, but my eyes are wide open now.
