Hello SparkFriends! If you are interested in learning more about the history of SparkPeople and how we can make it free, here is an article that talks about this .

Please note: Since we have millions of members, unfortunately I can't answer SparkMails that ask questions about someone's program or about site features. Please ask these on the message boards and you're likely to get better support than I could give.

I love to see so many people using SparkPeople to reach all types of goals. Each new success story we see motivates us to keep making the site better. Thanks to all of you - and our great team - SparkPeople has turned into a grassroots movement that is spreading around the world!

SparkCheers!

Fitness Minutes: 58,707

My Goals:
1) Working on my new and improved fitness streak! I'm currently at 170 days, headed towards 200 if I can! (remember, this isn't extreme - I only need 10 minutes to keep the streak alive)

2) Make SparkPeople into a company that helps millions of people (I'm the Founder and CEO of the company and am passionate about helping people reach their goals!).

My Program:
I do a well-rounded fitness program that I can fit into a very hectic lifestyle (having a young company and 2 young boys is challenging!) - most of my fitness program can be done at home. This includes cardio, strength (mostly pushups, crunches, lunges, body squats, and other body weight exercises), sprints and jump rope, stretching, and tennis-specific practice.

My wife helps me eat fairly healthy and I help motivate her on fitness - we're a good team!

Personal Information:
I live with my wonderful wife Karina in the San Francisco Bay Area (even though SparkPeople is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio and that will always be my hometown).

Other Information:
My wife Karina and I have 2 young and active boys. I love seeing them mimic my exercise. Some of our best quality time is exercising together, they love exercising - especially bouncing on a mini-trampoline.

I am from Africa. I have been a member since 2009 and so far this is the most comfortable site for my weight loss and diet goals. I did the premium when it was first launched and I have supported everything about sparkpeople since I joined. I have made great virtual friends who had helped my life in ways beyond the boundaries of Sparkpeople. I don't know what this is about, but SparkAmerica will shut me out completely as I reside In Nigeria. I hope you have a rethink and let us know what you really want. We love what you have done over the years and believed that we have all become a family/community that can deliberate together before decisions like this can be made. Good luck

I’m just devastated that SparkPeople is ending. I’ve been a member since 2007, and have come to love this community of friends that I have made. I won’t be going to SparkAmerica because it will not include the many International friends I have made

As an active member since February 2008, I'm devastated reading this. The HEART of SparkPeople is the PEOPLE. I have made friends around the world - and I've met some of them in person, with plans to meet others. I am NOT going to move on to a corporate site that has NO SOUL without a way to interact with people I consider part of my TRIBE and extended family. I am NOT going to move on to a site that doesn't allow me to interact within teams of people of MY choice who have the same goals, hopes, challenges, and interests as me. If I wanted something local, I can use "meet up" or "nextdoor" or many other applications that already exist. My company already uses another site for wellness, and I don't and won't use it, because my PERSONAL WEIGHT LOSS STRUGGLES are just that - personal - and not something I'm going to share with coworkers. They wouldn't understand, and it would just be another form of fat shaming, which does NOT happen within my teams here. I'm angry that we are not being given a chance to pay for our part in keeping this site going. There are tons of ways you could have cut server space and reduced costs. You're DESTROYING everything motivational about this site. Why should we have to lose our personal pages, our spark goodies, our friends, our teams? During this last year of lockdown during COVID, SparkPeople was a HUGE connection to the outside world. Without SparkPeople, I would have probably gone into a depression that I may not have been able to pull out of. The connections and FRIENDSHIPS built on this site, along with teams that challenged me to keep going, keep pushing, and keep trying day after day helped me keep going. This is a CRUEL thing to do to us. Not to mention, you're eliminating international members, which is HORRIBLE. I am still in shock that this is happening... and I'm appalled by the way this is being handled. It's a SLAP in the face to your loyal members who have supported this site for years. All you had to do was ask us for financial support and suggestions for how to keep the site going. I'm sure that many of us would have happily paid to keep this platform in place to not lose what is so VITAL in our lives. This is a money-grubbing garbage move. And if SparkAmerica is someday supposed to have THE SAME COMMUNITY as SparkPeople, why the need to change it? Or why the need to close down SparkPeople now? Let it continue until the change can be made without disrupting the lives of so many who depend on this site, the tools, and the PEOPLE here.

Just surprised and disappointed to learn that SparkPeople is going away. Never even got an official message from you or anyone on the team and there is still nothing on my start page. At first I thought this was a joke or that the site got hacked...seems not to be the case.

Tried to join SparkAmerica and signed in then had to get a link to confirm my email address and that never came. Too bad.

Thank you for everything you have done for us! I admire the way you have managed to keep the site going with only advertising funding all these years. I imagine you have made some personal sacrifices along the way. Your work has helped many many people change (and even save) their lives. I understand why it’s time to make a change to the site to enable more financial stability. Since the social connection with my small group of friends on here is the main reason I log on, and since I am not a FB user, I may not migrate to the new site. Looks like a wonderful product, though, that will continue to support healthy lifestyle choices for its users. Thanks again. I appreciate YOU! emoticon
