Infared Sauna

Wednesday, April 16, 2008

I took a tour of a gym just for women a couple months back and they have some infared saunas. I got to try one out and while you are in it they give this information booklet to read about it. I enjoyed my experience in it. I didn't join the gym part but I did buy a package to get unlimited use of the sauna. The information was kind of amazing yet almost unbelievable. I looked it up on the internet and read a few studies on it and they said pretty much the same thing as the information they had on it. 30 minutes in one can burn 600 calories, it improves circulation & cardio fitness, improves skin conditions and helps detox your body. There were some other things but I can't remember them all..... My brain pretty much focused on the 600 calories in 30minutes.....30 minutes!......Just for sitting there!..... I am so IN!! Well, I decided to get a package and give it a try to see if it really works as well as they say and as I hope it does. Oh, there information also said that NASA uses these to keep astronauts who are in small quarters in outer space for long periods of time to keep them cardiovascular fit. Has anyone else ever heard of these or tried one? Okay, Nomorestalling..... if you're reading this.... I KNOW you are googling it right now. Ha! I'm curious to see what everyone says about these.

I checked a favorite website and found an interesting article about infrared saunas being used to treat heart disease.

I didn't know saunas caused your heartrate to increase. I don't use them because my eyes get completely bloodshot in the sauna. But the steamroom sure is nice. #:^ )

This does get my heart rate up to 140, give or take. Although it doesn't build any strentgh or tone like exercise does. It makes for a nice supplement...plus I feel like I have a lot of toxins to get rid of and it actually has made me skin look better. I have only gone a few times so I'm still "testing" it out. Thanks for the comment, I have missed your face.

Oh... I wish they had one of those where I live. That would sure be nice. I would still prefer exercise because of getting the heart rate up. But... that's just me!! LOL Enjoy every minute of it, okay?
