This week the scale was up slightly (0.2) pounds. I am listening to my own advice and not getting down about it I checked last weeks food records and my calories were in range all week. I had my water and I did do a good bit of exercise. This week I am going to add exercise.

I also talked to my coach who is a nutritionist as well as a personal trainer and tomorrow I take another resting metabolic rate test. The last one I did was about 4 years ago and it told me that I need 1280 calories to stay alive (without moving). That led to my coach setting a 1200 to 1400 calorie range for me. When I started Sparkpeople I was dealing with a very irritated IT band that caused severe knee pain and reduced my ability to do cardio. Now, steroid shot and weeks of PT later with new shoes and lessons on how to walk properly, I am adding back activity and I am back on my bicycle (not doing the distances I used to do YET but slowly working my way back.) I am a bit worried about this test, I really hope it hasn't shown that I need to eat less. My coach told me that it is just as likely that I need to eat more and this will show us.

In the past a gain, even one this small, would leave me feeling demoralized and I would give up. Now I actually feel good. I am paying attention to the process and I feel successful and I know that my body will eventually cooperate and the rest of this extra weight will leave. It is easy to get impatient especially since my insurance agent said that another 5 pounds would put me in range for spending a lot less on my health insurance. I am choosing patience and perseverance.
