Moments of the Heart

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

As my last blog reflected my 2 precious parents have been dealing with some health issues. My Mom is experiencing neck and back problems. As her Doctor politely put it her spinal column is in serious trouble. In the near future, she will have surgery on her back and possibly her neck as well.

The same time I wrote that blog that very weekend my dear Dad passed out for 5 minutes and was totally unresponsive. The fire department and paramedics came and he was taken to the hospital where he stayed for the weekend, and was released. Last week he was fitted with a heart monitor to wear 24/7. Today he went to the cardiologist where he turned in his monitor, had an echocardiogram and it was determined that his aortic valve is in bad shape. He will be having his valve replaced next week. Friday he will be having a heart cath to determine if he has any blockages that will require stints or bypasses.

These are 2 people who work and do more retired than they did when they worked. (At least in my eyes) They are so giving, loving and do so much for others. (including me) and it’s like they’ve aged 20 years and are beside themselves.

My Daddy is in great health minus this problem and I know he will do well. We are so blessed to have an fabulous extended family. I personally am blessed to know those here on SP who are always such a blessing of a support group.

All I know to say is Please say a prayer for my parents – that God will just surround them both with protection and comfort and everything will turn out okay.

Never forget how important and blessed you are, always be grateful for the itty bitty things that never seem so momentus. We are ALL blessed with those things in life.

I know I am emoticon

This is not the best picture, but this is my Dad Sam, and his namesake my 4 yo son, Sam.

I will certianly be praying for your parents and for you! It is really hard to see your parents experience these things--I have had to witness my Dad endure multiple health tragedies I would call them, in the past 2 years. In that short time, he has been stripped of the ability to do a lot of the things he loved due to his physical limitations. I'm sure it's not how he envisioned his retirement years. Anyway, my prayers and thoughts go out to you all. God is good and even through all my Dad has been through, I can see His hand. Hang in there!
