10,000 Steps Team August in review

Saturday, August 29, 2009

1)What I accomplished: I feel as if I've been dizzy since July and I'm just beginning to orient myself. All in all, weight wise, I feel as if I accomplished next to nothing in August.

2)What challenges I had: The complete disruption of my way of eating. I started a work schedule working 12-9, then I added overtime, sometimes working from 9-9. I can't make smoothies at work, I can't eat every two to three hours. I have to have lunch and dinner at work.

3)Where I can do even better: I can exercise before work no matter what time I start. I can use my imagination to get my meals figured out. Where there's a will, there's a way.

4)What surprises I had: I learned something about myself that will go a long way to help me move forward in this and many other areas of my life.

Hmmm... here are some of my creative meals to go

cottage cheese and berries(packed in a little cooler with some ice)

small can of tuna, packet of pickle relish, packet of fat free mayo, 1oz pecans- when I'm ready to eat I mix it all together an eat it with either an apple sliced or celery stalks! it's really YUMMY with the nuts!

Soup..the old standby...but ya gotta love it!

Packet of oatmeal( I like the high fiber kind with all the seasonning in it) and a sliced banana...so ymmy on a cold day!

lean cuisine- no refrigeration needed lunches! Add a piece of fruit and after you microwave it you have a healthy filling meal!

6 garlic roasted triscuits, 2 wedges laughing cow brand garlic herb cheese, and 3 oz cold chicken breast(rotisserrie chicken)

packets of hummus( individual ones are available at costco) celery, carrot and pita bread

frozen shrimp and some cocktail sauce( the shrimp will thaw during the morning- so add ya need is some cocktail sauce to dip them in! )

these are just a few of the things i pack my hubby for his lunch or when i need a "to go" bag for something. Hope they help!

I'm sure you'll have it all figured out by the end of the weekend. Your such a logical and faithful person that all the pieces will fall into place for you. Just listen to that little voice in your heart and of course all your Spark friends.

It sounds like you know what you need to do. You have looked at your faults for the month and will go forward with changing them. It is hard when you can't follow your diet at work. Can you eat at your desk? If there is no refrigerator bring in a small cooler and put a smoothie in there to keep cold until you can drink it.

    Good Luck in September

With a work schedules like yours, I can see how it'd be extremely difficult to stick to the plan.

Do you have a fridge at work that you can use? If so, could you make smoothies at home and bring them in, storing them in the fridge until you want them? There are very tight-closing on-the-go cups by Lock&Lock and similar companies... Just a thought.

Good luck with your plans for September. :) emoticon

This is what I like about these challenges: they make you think.
If it hadn't been for the challenge would you have thought August to be a bad/ disapointing months?

You found ways to get round your problems - and that's when/how we will achieve our goals, well done! emoticon
