Back from Vacation... Oh my!!

Tuesday, September 15, 2009

After getting back from vacation I've been so busy at work, just now had time to write about the trip.... as you can tell from my picture... it was a great vacation... but I'm not feeling the love for my scale.

We had such a good visit to see friends and family in New Mexico! Green chili, Margaritas, Mojitos and New Mexican food, why do I call it New Mexican food... well before moving to Colorado I could not have begun to explain, but here it goes. The 'Mexican food' in New Mexico is like no other states 'Mexican food'. It is actually a combination of Mexican food and Native American Indian food. When you order at any restaurant there they ask 'Red or Green', OR 'Christmas' (which is both side by side). When we first moved to Colorado I though I was going to die because there are just no good or even mediocre Mexican restaurants here, now that is my opinion. So, we learned that when in New Mexico just get as much New Mexican food as your body will contain, a good long fix to hold you over until the next visit. We had New Mexican food at least one meal everyday that we were there and WOW was it great!!!

Now you understand why the above picture explains my love/hate relationship with my scale after the trip.

We had a great time at the Bernalillo Wine Festival, but mostly because we were with my best friend Barb and her hubby just chatting and walking the day away. When we got there, the line just to get in was probably over 1 mile long, it took us almost one hour just to get in. That line was the first of many that we stood in just to get 3 to 5----1/2 ounce samples (depending on the vendor) of wine. I think that we stood in a total of three vendor's lines, and finally just gave up and had purchased a couple glasses of our faves from those. The lines took at least one hour to get through, but, who noticed we were having a great time catching up on each others lives. Now next year I think we will try to go to the other wine festival on Memorial week-end instead of this one.

We visited with our oldest son, Kris, who is teaching his second year of middle school and having the time of his life...he just adores all of his students don't know where he got the patience from ... not me...!!!!

Had a family get to gather with hubby's family so we could see everyone at once. My MIL and FIL have failed in health just since our visit over Memorial day, it is heart breaking to watch. We saw family that we had not seen for quite awhile and even saw one SIL who was sober for the first time that I have ever seen ( been in the family 18 years now too), it was a pleasant surprise! She had lost 60 pounds, stopped drinking and is even going to church!

On the way out of town we purchase our Colorado stash of New Mexico green chili to tide us over until the next trip.

We are back home, back to work and back to our everyday life, I have 4 extra pounds to get off my bod just to get back to.. before the trip... but it was worth it. We both came back relaxed, refreshed and a little fatter and happier. The next dilemma will I ever love my scale???
