Build a Life to Get Into

From today's Healthy Reflections
"If you feel "tuned out" of your current life, that's okay.
Make your first goal to build a life that you can get "in"-to.
Then don't look back.
Make every day count and live purposefully, live energetically, live completely."
It's so obvious, so simple-
I wanted to save this because it speaks to where I am now- feeling "tuned out" of my own life.
Since I have spent the last 12 years getting 2 degrees & National Board certification while working full time, being unemployed has an unreal quality for me. It's like, "How did this happen to me? & What will happen to me now?"
A few positive things that I have done are
1. I overcame my feelings of anxiety to drive four hours, alone, to visit a very close friend whom I haven't seen in years. I blogged about her when I was questioning the purpose of Facebook. Now I'm a convert.
Anyway, I came so close to backing out, doing the safe thing- making up an excuse & staying home. She even said that she told her husband that I would end up backing out.
Too bad we didn't bet on it!
We had a wonderful time & it was so worth the trip.
2. While I was there we went to a New Balance store & I bought shoes to start the C25K program that I've been thinking about for several months.
3. Today I completed all of the challenges for the Wii teams that I belong to on Spark.
That's a good start, I just need to keep the momentum going to build a life that I can get into.
That's my responsibility to myself.
