Dreamgirls was FABULOUS ~ Letterman coming up!

Monday, December 07, 2009

Hi Sparksters,
Thought I would give you a quick update on how the night out to see Dreamgirls went. DB and I went to the big event on Saturday night and the weather was absolutely horrid! It was raining cats and dogs and very cold. It actually snowed but didn't stick. Anyway, I didn't feel comfortable wearing a wig with the wind blowing and rain so skipped it. Other than that, the evening was FABULOUS. The show is about 2 hours 40 minutes long and it absolutely flew by. The songs were great, the costumes absolutely amazing and the casting superb. I give it 5 stars. I have seen a lot of Broadway productions and this is definately in my top 5. The show will be going on tour next year so if you have a chance to see it ~ do it. DB knows some of the production staff and we got invited backstage after the show. We got to meet the "stars" and chatted for a few minutes. The Apollo Theatre is beautiful but backstage it is small and that definately makes it a challenge to put on a production of this calliber. They use over 250 wigs alone in the production. Thought you might like to see a few of my photos.

Also went to Rockefeller Center Saturday IN THE RAIN again but the tree still looked beautiful. The outside of Saks Fifth Avenue building was decorated with large lighted snowflakes so that was fun to see.

On Thursday, we have tickets to Letterman so that will be fun. Rumor has it that Kate Hudson will be a guest so keep your fingers crossed... how cool would that be? If I get any scoop on her and A-Rod I'll pass it along LOL.

Today I did a rebounding class at the gym and a bit of weights / cardio afterwards. I am sure going to miss that rebounding class after I leave to go back home. It is such fun and a great work-out. DB actually did 50 minutes cardio today and 60 ... yes 60 PUSH-UPS. He did them in 3 sets of 20. I would say he is getting his physical strength back quickly. 6 weeks ago he could hardly get out of bed and 3 weeks ago when he started back at the gym he was only able to do 20 minutes cardio and a few push-ups. I'm smiling... things are really looking good and what a blessing for him to regain his health. I can go home Friday knowing that my time here made a difference and I accomplished what I set out to do.

Hope you are all having a wonderful week-end. I bought one of those little webcams so after I get home I'll install the software and see about doing a video blog. Bobbi, (FLORIDASUN... yes that means you!) you need to do one of those video blogs for us and give us a raw cooking demonstration! LOL

Hugs to all,
Rhonda

Hey, hey, my little trendsetting ROCK star...shopping in Soho..I wanna come! emoticon Thanks so much for the pics..reminds me so much of the Josher's and my trip there! LOVE NYC...I'd move there in a minute if I hit the lotto. DH could decide to come or NOT...I'd be there and if he didn't move with me...we'd have to have a long distance sordid love affair...hee hee! Can you still DO THAT after 31 years of marriage...I guess so...I think that is what happens in the new Meryl Streep movie! emoticon

Anyhow..I'm so glad that you had so MUCH fun at Dreamgirls..I can't imagine a better show and I'll definitely check it out when it goes on tour!

Ha..ha...the video..I'm game...I made a delish CLEAN dish tonite..I'll post tommorrow...yes, I'm burning the candle on both ends for the art markets but it's a good burn...if only I'd get to count those on my fitness tracker!

So happy DB is doing better...who wouldn't thrive with you around...I know that's a big part of the reason! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi...I am so jealous, I love NYC!

My daughters and I have been twice in the past couple of years and stayed right in Times Square. We drove the first time (about a 7 hour drive) and the second time we flew.

We went to see David Letterman when Will Farrell was on. It was pretty good...but we got tired of clapping, and didn't realize how much David Letterman has to read his cue cards. I thought he said everything kind of off the cuff..but no, it is his writers that are funny, not him...lol!! It was interesting though!
My daughters saw Paris Hilton at one of the clubs in the Meat Packing District, so they thought that was pretty neat!

I hope you are having a wonderful and exciting time there, and I also hope that you enjoy the Dancex dvd, I really get a kick out of it and it's fun, so the time passes quickly!

    Have a great time!!
