She gave me an injection of Synvisc-1 (new, 1-injection treatment) to help tide me over until I can do the knee replacement some time early summer. I also am getting a custom made knee support to take "the load off" the joint (a hinged knee brace) and I also got a temporary handicapped parking permit that is good until my birthday (May 31st). I am so happy they have accommodated all my wishes and now we will see how being nonweight bearing for exercises is going to work. She said I could use recumbent bike and water aerobics. She suggested elliptical machine but I have not done well with that machine and will wait to see if I can do it in about a month or so. I am taking it easy this afternoon after the injection and plan to not overdo.
Water aerobics always looked like fun to me. I love the water and used to swim at the county recreation center fairly often. I usually just treadmill now because I have one at home and it's quicker. I was laid up for 3 months with the broken ankle, but I'm back to walking on the treadmill. I'm not as fast as I was, but I'm picking up speed. I hope your recovery goes as smoothly as mine.
