Something is wrong

Wednesday, January 20, 2010

I am once again frustrated by my lack of progress on the scale. I GAINED 3 pounds since last week. What am I doing wrong? My calories are good, I'm getting cardio and strength training in, I drink TONS of water......what is going on??????? It's very very upsetting and I am not sure what to do...sigh

The same thing happened to me, so I know how discouraging it can be. Turns out it was water retention (started my cycle), and I'm back on track. That lemon thing really does work! So don't get too upset, there's probably a simple explanation, and it will more than likely correct itself! If you're doing everything right, you really can't go wrong! Good Luck!

Twinkie--No, I didn't try the lemon in water--I forgot lemons at the store! But, I had two pound loss today and my attitude is much better today! I will get lemons tonight though, because I think I AM retaining water. Thank you!!!

I get so frustrated sometimes I just want to scream! I had that last week, I stayed inside my calories, drank my water, got my exercise and the scales just seamed to be laughing at all my hard work. It knocked the wind right out of my sails, and I came close to just throwing in the towel, as I have so many times. But I stuck at it and yesterday I tried on a pair of pants that I haven't ever bothered to hem because they never really fit right... and they looked good! Not just fit, but looked good! So I pulled off the tags (Mervyns should tell you how old they are) and pined up the legs and wore them all day! Scales are still telling me I'm screwing up some how, pants are saying something else entierly. So my point, after all that, is ignore the scales and find something that lets you know you are doing well! :)
    It worked for me!

I agree with Bree777, it's easy to get caught up believing that the weight should just melt off when we recommit to this process, in truth our bodies go through a bunch of fluctuations before anything happens, sometimes those fluctuations aren't things we are happy to see. Take this journey one day at a time, one meal at a time and with positive thoughts not negative. Trust that you are on the right path and please don't give up! IF you're really in it 'for reals' this time then accept the failures as a rite of passage and know that they are merely potholes that you must hit from time to time on this road. You will hit smooth pavement soon enough and each victory will be sooooooooo sweet!

Just a thought - Maybe nothing's wrong? I just noticed you are "back for really reals" as of 1/4 (Hey. me too! :)) When you begin exercise again after a period of inactivity, your muscles hold excess water. There's even an SP article about it.

You're probably not "gaining muscle" yet, I think it takes more than 2 weeks of training for that.

Keep at it! If in 6-8 weeks you're still not moving in inches or pounds, THEN there's a problem :)

1st, are you going muscle weight, if you do a lot of weight training you might be,

2nd, use the tape measure, and get all your measurements recorded, you can do this on the start page. You could be losing inches.

3rd, do you have water retention, try this little trick..... every morning BEFORE YOU EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING!!!! have a glass of water with a tablespoon of lemon juice in it, this will help to remove any water you are holding, it really works.

Let me know how you get on.

Don't despair, the weight will come off if you are doing everything right, and are most of all being totally honest with yourself.

Do try the lemon juice in water.
    IT WORKS.

How about hormones? How's your energy level? Are you sleeping? You know yourself and have done so well, I'm sure you'll figure it out. Your page still give me encouragement. I'm going through a bump, too, so thanks for some light.
I hope you find what you need soon!

Hello I am sorry about your frustations! I have been in the same boat. I too lost a lot of weight and after 4 years of being with hubby I gained 30 pounds back. It is harder to lose the second time however you can do it!!!! Just keep up the good work and increase your exercize a bit and don't focus too much on the scale but more on how you feel, how your clothes are fitting. You have done so much allready!!! You will do great!!!
