Don't do that again!

Monday, February 15, 2010

Phew, I have to learn this lesson over and over again. Not so often as before, but every once in a while. Lesson is: Stay away from sugary and refined products!!

So, for five weeks I've been so good with my eating and exercising and then last Saturday started my decent from the wagon. I didn't eat as much as I just made really bad choices in food. So, by Friday I started with the headaches. Saturday had migraine, blocked sinuses and a rumbling tummy. By Saturday evening I was in bed with nausea, diaree and headache. I had the shivers in the middle of summer, so much so that my husband put an extra blanket on for me! Then halfway through the night I was sweating like mad and couldn't cool down. Sunday I felt better, but continued with all the above just in a smaller degree.
Good thing is with all this, I lost one of the two kilo's I gained over the past week. Not the best way to do it, but I'm rather glad I didn't have to face this week with a two kilo gain.
So, I'm tired of feeling sick. And I am back on the wagon.

Saturday we also witnessed a road accident. In fact if we were ten seconds earlier, we would have been part of it. I assisted the lady that was thrown from her truck until a off duty paramedic arrived. We phoned the ambulance and we phoned the lady's father as soon as she stared remembering stuff and could remember her father's telephone number. She was lucky to come from it with her life. She only had some bruises and scrapes. The lady in the BMW had not a thing wrong exept some bruising from the airbag.
Made me count my blessings again.

I'm lucky to have my parents with me today. They came for a really short visit.

Talk to you all soon.

***** Thank you for all the Valentines wishes****** emoticon

Wow. That was a close call.

I'm glad you're feeling better and a few pounds less to show for it.

You're right: kick that junk to the curb.

I think we need to keep reminding ourselves why we stay on track. Last week (Tuesday-Friday) I wasn't tracking, eating like crazy and by this past weekend I was like I feel like CRAP! And even though I wasn't counting calories, I was making decent choices on my own. Today I am counting the calories and feel 100% better.

Wow, such scary stuff. I know it's better to witness an accident than to be in one, but still ... that kind of stuff makes me feel so shaky. I guess it's a reminder to live life to the fullest.

Anyway, sorry to hear that you overate. I know what you mean about being reminded all over again of how uncomfortable that can be. It always amazes me how the food can feel so good when you chew and swallow it but then almost immediately you can feel the ill effects.

Hope that your week goes well - I know you'll be smart and get back on track instead of using that as an excuse to eat more.

Hoo boy, do I ever hear you on the "I need to remember this and NOT DO IT AGAIN" thing.

I binged on Friday with disastrous results (detailed in a blog of my own).

I can't believe I'm actually ANXIOUS for Lent to start... LOL

Oh my! How fortunate those people were not hurt too badly. Goodness! I do hope you start feeling better soon, healthy eating certainly does help the recovery and immune system.

Sounds like you had a flu bug.
Glad to hear that you were able to help the accident victims. I once witnessed an accident. A car sideswiped a cyclist and she fell to the ground with a great scream. I was on the other side of a park and cycled over to her. Someone was already there calling an ambulance on their cell phone. I talked to her to keep her from going into shock. It really makes you more aware of what CAN happen and how fragile the human body is.
    Enjoy your family time!

Thank you for being able to reassure the lady while making contact for her and waiting around.

I'm glad that you have learned from what happened last week but so sorry that you went through all of that discomfort. Sometimes we need these reminders - we wonder how much harm we can do if we just have this or that or just one of those! Hah!We soon get a wake-up call! Yours was refined stuff and sugar - my most recent one was rice. OK - we've learned.

Another new week - let's enjoy it!
