Hi ! I am new to Spark People and am learning to love the site... and you. my companions in travel. I am a senior citizen and need to lose somewhere around 35 lbs. I have a chronic illness that limits my exercise so most of the work will come from pushing back from the table.

My plan, which is working so far, is to buy my edible items at a farmers market. I buy cleaning supplies at the Dollar Store to save money and temptation. I don't buy foods that come in a package,,, this includes all baked goods. If I want bread, I bake it, Same goes for cookies, cakes etc. It is surprising how much easier it is to go into the kitchen for a carrot or some blueberries !

The only 'exercise' I count is walking my dog, Paw Chu Li - a Tibetan Terrier - ( patchouli is my favorite old hippie scent) . We circle the block or walk to a nearby creek. I use a cane to accomplish this so it isn't a fast walk, but I do it EVERY day ( for ChuLi of course).

I am so tired of being overweight, it is slowing my healing and taking time off of my life. With no carb loaded snacks around I am able to keep my calories in the range I want.
