Good Morning Spark Friends,
Once again I am up in the wee hours with back pain. This is no fun ! Thank heavens I am retired and can catch up on sleep whenever I drop from exhaustion ( slight exaggeration there). I have been doing some gentle yoga stretches for the last couple of hours. Not to fear, I have taken yoga for about 45 years and am a lifelong devotee. I have a 'restoration' mat and use much care, many props, and tenderness on myself !
Today, ( actually yesterday now), I decided that walking would help. If I am standing or walking the pain is much reduced. Lying down on my back is out of the question. Sitting hurts too. I've been advised that when standing or walking, the legs and lower half of the body support the trunk. When sitting the back supports it, hence pain. Lying on my back painfully stretches the muscle that we think is torn. Like my weight loss, this will be a long slow process.
My dog, Paw Chu Li and I took two long and enjoyable walks today. She likes the walking plan. Weather has been perfect, mid 70's, bright sun and a slight breeze.
I am keeping my calories under control and drinking lots of water. I love water. About 10 years ago I went to a hypnotist for weight loss, obviously it didn't work. He would hook me up via goggles to a random light show . Then he would place headsets over my ears. One side repeated the message, " You love water, water is your favorite drink". The other side was in a spoken voice and would tell me all of the reasons I wanted to lose weight. The good news is that for $1500.00, I have loved water ever since. I start the day with a cup of coffee and drink only water the rest of the time ! My grandkids find it interesting that "Gramma only drinks water." They get off easy, I told their parents that sugar is the 'white death".
Well it's almost dawn.... I think Chu Li and I will sit on the porch and watch the sun come up. I wish you every blessing and joyful surprise today !
