the scale?

Thursday, September 23, 2010

I'm not expecting a miracle , but every morning I weigh. One day I'm 188 next day 191, I stay on my diet and I walk and walk somemore. I weighed 196 when I signed into this website, so I should be happy I'm down these 8 pounds. My Dr. Says its because I cut my diet to slim that I need to eat 1500 calories to lose weight. She wants me to lose just 1 pound a week. She is very happy with my 8 pound loss and I am too don't get me wrong, In the past I would lose 1 pound a day. I know my metabolism has changed with age, any advice on how to boost my metabolism? I'm going on vacation and want to lose weight and still have a good time. And make my team proud of me. emoticon

Stick to your plan on vacation. Lots of water, fruit, veggies, lean meats. Go easy on the high sugar / white flour stuff and the alcohol and you should be fine. I went on a cruise in November and only gained 1 pound which was gone within a day of getting home.

Losing 8 lbs is great! My goal was 52 lbs in a year- 1 lb a week- and I've lost 57 (still have 5 days left before before my year is up). You will lose some weeks and some weeks you will go up a bit or stay the same. Don't let the #'s on the scale ruin your day. Aim for 1-1.5 lbs per week, and know in your own mind that you are staying in your recommended calorie range and exercising- believe me, it will be worth it! Losing too fast damages your health, and being healthy is a wonderful goal!!!

Keep up the good work. One pound per day is way too much - at that rate you're either losing a lot of water or starving your body. If you keep focused on doing the right things the weight will come off... and even at 1-2 lbs per week the weight loss piles up quickly.

I actually hit a plateau last month but I kept focused and suddenly I'm losing weight again.

Slow and steady wins the race. It took me nearly 2 years to lose 100 pounds. Could I have done it faster? Sure, but I know these pounds are staying off forever. Take your doctor's advice and be proud of your accomplishment!

Losing 8 pounds is great! keep it up & sooner or later the scale will catch up with your hard work. Don't worry about letting your team down. Most of us have struggled to see results at one time or another.

As for vacation, my advice is to drink lots of water, and get in lots of walking while you are away if possible. That way you can stay active & help offset your eating while you are on vacation.

Boy can I relate. I just made my first post today about this very issue! (still haven't gotten a reply, so I don't have a good response) It's so very frustrating. I guess you just keep moving forward and looking at the big picture. The total for the month, the year etc. It sure goes against all you hear about calories in verses calories out! Hang in there!

I, too, am down 8 lbs and the evil scale will NOT give up any more. We are in the same boat. Good luck. I am sticking to the plan, I will NOT let that evil scale win.

Bad, bad..... emoticon , you WILL give it up one day soon and we will be victorious!
