Day 10 of Many!!!

Although I haven't blogged, I have been keeping up with the exercise and tracking streaks. Was out and about 2 days (Sunday and Monday) and was able to do the 10 minutes of exercise daily, and track the nutrition retroactively.

I now know where 'there's a will, there's a way' and have no intention of breaking this streak. Today is day 10 and my next target is 14. I'm looking forward to the 21st day as that is when doing these things should become a habit. I'm sorely in need of good habits in both these categories and absolutely will make it. I ch0se 21 days because its my understanding that is how long it takes to make a habit.

Ate a little off my regular menu while out but stayed within range so have no apologies to make to me. Surprising how easy it is to eat within range when you are committed to doing it. If I worry about anything, it is in being under in calories sometimes. I've always believed the Spark premise that less than 1200 calories is not the way to go. But since I take fasting blood sugars in the morning and then throughout the day and before bed, I know I'm not falling into the 'too little' category where my carbs are concerned. If that doesn't make sense, someone call my hand on it. I'm not to proud to accept constructive criticism.

I love you all for your continued attention to my personal goals and status. How I'd love to meet everyone just for a good old fashioned talk fest. You are wonderful.

    I certainly don't reach the SP recommended levels - I work on a 50% carbs (low GI where possible) and 22% fat and 28% protein - with a lot of variety!!
    I'm proud of you Vicki - you are going so well - with the sugar levels - the more low GI carbs (under 55 rating) you can use the more level your sugar levels will stay and the spikes and troughs that you can get will be avoided - much better for you!!

    I think today is Day 56 for me. I had gone on vacation, where I did exercise, but when I got back I vegged out and read books. Finally one day I said, "That is enough. Tomorrow you start exercising." I haven't been able to stop.

    I am really proud of myself and unless there is a really good reason I am continuing on with this streak. I set 5 day goals. My next goal is Day 60. I work full time but I gave up TV to make more time to exercise.

    Keep exercising every day. I am to the point where I would really miss it if I didn't do it. You will get there. Like you said on day 21 it will become a good habit.

    Yay Vicki! You are essentially halfways to your 21 day goal and already made it to 10! You will have those good habits set in real soon! I'm so proud of you! Keep up the great work! YOU are wonderful!

    Ten days already! You're making great progress! I've heard that, too, about it taking 3 weeks to make a new habit. That's only 11 more days. You're halfway there, already! Your determination is admirable and I have no doubt you will go much further than 21 days!

    I'm consistently under the SP carb ranges too (although not by a huge amount). SP has a lot of great things going for it, but use of the old-fashioned food pyramid that suggests 6-11 servings of carbs per day is not among its best features. If you're eating plenty of whole foods, including lots of fruit and veg, lean proteins and a moderate amount of healthy grains, you're very unlikely to hurt yourself by eating fewer carbs than SparkPeople tells you that you should.

    Congratulations on your hard work! Keep enjoying those healthy habits.

    Im really glad you are holding your own with staying on track, even managing to successfully stray from plans.

    And meh on carbs... I think the SP ranges are too high and I cant remember the last time I met them... I didn't even when I had a bad binge on cereal!!!
