Boo, Hooray and Boo Hoo...

Friday, October 15, 2010

First the Boo : I got on the scale today and GAINED 3 pounds, Drat ! I was feeling like I'd lost a couple of pounds, but NO, up I go again....

The Hooray: I'd thought I'd lost. Why ? Because I feel so much better. My clothing fits better. I FEEL lighter. I feel like dressing up once in awhile. I put some makeup on. I know for certain that I am eating better. All of that is reason for cheering and it will also keep me going.

and Boo Hoo : Not only didn't I lose, but now I must RE-LOSE before I lose . Another drat !

My consensus is multi fold. Normally, I am a very sedentary kind of gal. In the past couple of weeks I have been a ball of fire. It is craft fair time and I have entered 3 before November 5. I have painted ( one large painting, one small and one box ), made pottery bowls ( 6 that I am really proud of, 1 is a rice bowl with 3 different yoga pose figures on it) , Also, 24 Christmas ornaments ( miniature painted canvases on teeny easels tied with ribbon), knit two purses and will bead some necklaces on Tuesday with hand made beads. Yes, I am a superwoman. However, little of this takes aerobic energy. Running around with hair on fire doesn't seem to count for calorie burning.

The second part of the consensus is too many carbs and not enough protein... even though I stay in the calorie range, the proportion is not in balance. So, back to the drawing board on that one. Plus, I must up the ante on my walks, farther at least twice as far, the dog will love it. But not until after the 5th.......

The clothes fitting better is key! I started measuring inches around my waist and hips and finding the ratio. That is satisfying because obviously something is changing even if the scale is being a brat. That's really the point for physical health if not mental health LOL

Physical exercise and just moving around doing stuff is what tightens you up and makes your clothes fit better so not boo hoo Woo Hoo!

hope you do well at the show..I did crafts for a number of years and still dabble in it a little sometimes.. just do not seem to have the time anymore..you are feeling better and that is the important thing.. the scale goes up and down daily so do not put too much emphasis on that.. emoticon

So, your weight can easily fluctuate, mine does. The main thing is you feel better and there is a difference in the way your clothes fit you. I try not to put so much emphasis on the scales. It's just a number and there are so many other ways you can see progress. Remember also, muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less room. So, it's also possible that you have gained more muscle and lost more fat. So, maybe there really isn't a boo after all. You are doing great, and you are right to feel good. Don't lose that feeling. emoticon

I'll be completely honest with you, Annette... There are three really important things to bear in mind here, three that really stand out to me:

    1) I'd give ANYTHING to have *1/100th* of your spectrum of talents - WOW!! They must be so rewarding, and I'd love to see the necklaces, too!

    2) Sometimes, as weight's being converted to body fluid, your weight will temporarily go up a little.

    3) What I REALLY noticed was that you feel physically better, even to the point of wanting to put on makeup, etc.!

So, it's all good...and you're making progress! You're not weighing in more than once a week, though, are you? I used to set myself up for so many wild lurches of the scale, so much disappointment, when I did that. Plus, you're exercising, too! Yup - all good! emoticon - Sandi emoticon

    I love your attitude.
    The Drat made me chuckle.

    One of my favorite quotes:
Real failure is failing to try.

I use to love crafts. Hope all goes well for you.
