Woohoo Wednesday!

A few days ago at the gym, I finally decided to weigh in, my scale at home hasn’t been functional for almost two months now, the batteries died and I decided that I needed to take a break from it anyways and shift my focus to working out and how my clothes were fitting. The last time I weighed in was about 6 weeks ago, since then I have lost 6lbs, which is awesome! My weight pretty much stayed the same while I was training for my HM and then I maintained through the holidays. But I’m ready for some downward movement! I decided in the last week of December that I was going to work out everyday until January 31, and guess what? I did it! The little pink stars signify that I worked out :) and I lost 6 lbs, I’m stoked. Out of the 170s and ready to be done with the 160s as well.

Part of the reason that I wanted to work out every day, was because I’m starting my HM training on Saturday and unlike last season, I want to continue my ST the whole time. Last season I feel like I just got too focused on running with some cross-training thrown in and let everything else slide. This time around, I want to keep it more balanced, I’ll still be doing ST, increasing yoga to help with stretching and flexibility and cross-train. I’m not going to stop all the classes I love at the gym just because I’m training for my HM, but I do understand that I need to take at least 1 rest day a week, and that I need to scale some things back (i.e. kickboxing 3x a week like I do now probably can’t be maintained, but I can do it 1 or 2x)

I’m so stoked for the upcoming running season, I’ve got some exciting HM’s planned…I’m doing the San Diego Rock n Roll with Team in Training, and this season I’m a mentor, so I’ve got 7 people that I follow up with regarding their training, fundraising, or any questions they have. One of my mentees is one of my close friends, who says that I have motivated her to get into shape, and wanted to do this if I could be her mentor. We’ve got weekly treadmill dates planned, and she texts me with her progress, it’s such an amazing feeling to realize that you can help change someone else’s life for the better just by being you. I’m also doing the Seattle Rock n Roll about 3 weeks after my San Diego half, this one will be done with another one of my close friends who I have inspired to run a half, because they had thought it wasn’t possible before. I’m entering the lottery for the Nike women’s marathon in SF (because last year was such an amazing experience) and then will be ending the year with a December Rock n Roll HM in Vegas!

Since I’ve got so many races and trainings in my future, I’m thinking about treating myself to some running clothes that I love! Anyone have something that they absolutely adore?

    Congratulations! You are doing so well! I've missed catching up with you and it's so nice to see that you're going strong and losing lbs, plus you are a running rockstar!

    Treating yourself to some workout clothes is a fabulous idea!!! New workout gear is not only a fun treat, but also a great incentive to run or to do ST or to hit the gym. Lululemon has son great running pants and zip ups - you should check there!
