Arghh... (knee injury)

Sunday, February 20, 2011

Hi. I hurt my knee while dancing (or maybe while running?) and have to stay off it until it feels better. I've been depending on exercise every day for stress reduction and to burn enough calories so that I can eat what I want, but am needing to completely change up my program. Arghh...

Ok. I'll do it (will revise my stress reduction/eating/exercise plan to accomondate for this injury). It's worth it. Not to be too Pollyanna-ish or anything, but maybe changing things up will even help me in the long run with preventing boredom and with doing exercises that I wouldn't normally choose to do.

Being injured is no fun. After being regular at exercising, it's boring when you CAN'T do it! Hope it gets better soon! emoticon Way to look at the bright side!

Knee injuries are the worst! Right up there with back injuries. Take care of yourself and get well soon!

Ugh!! I hate to hear that. I hate to be injured because I use exercise too to relieve stress and to keep my weight in check. I do the same and still do what I can. Wishing you a speedy recovery!!

I am also with an injury. In my case it will take between 1 and 2 weeks. Take it easy with the knee someone slambed a door on my left one and most of the time now it is ok, but once in a while I feel it and it has been since 99. Yoga had helped so it is happening once in a while. To start off you will need props such as a towel or blanket so you are not sitting right on the knee.

I FEEL YOUR PAIN!! I'm in the midst of training for a half marathon (week 8) and have injured myself. I'm so depressed for the exact reasons you listed. There goes my stress reliever and my reason to be able to pig out at buffets!! I keep telling myself this is just temporary and that I'll be back on top before I know it.

Hang in there and just remember you are not alone!!

Sorry your knee is hurting... been there before! Exercise is a good stress reducer but so is yoga or tai chi which are more gentle forms of exercise. They may be a good alternative while you heal. Meditation is also a great stress reducer...sometimes just 5 minutes of deep breathing with your eyes closed in a quiet place will help.

Great attitude in the midst of an injury. Things happen for a reason and I bet there will be a positive outcome from this injury. Hope you have a quick recovery!

Horrible! So sorry to hear about your injury...agreed that injuries are pretty bad especially since you have been doing soooooooo well!
Honestly though its better to have some time to rest and recover instead of trying to push yourself and injuring yourself further.

I hope also that changing things up helps :) If you need anything just let me know, I know that we will miss you in Double Step, but it's better safe than sorry :)
