I am lacking motivation in the workout dept.

Thursday, April 14, 2011

I have been doing good watching what I eat. Even though I don't always log my calories on SP I keep up with them. I eat 3-400 calories per meal and eat 4 times a day. I love going to the gym, I have been going every other night for a week and a half now and it's fantastic. I love the way I feel when I am there and when I leave. I love the energy it gives me. Now, when I am at home and need to get some cardio in or think I should do a workout video I have been losing motivation FAST. I want to do it in my head I keep telling myself to do it, but my body has other plans and, unfortunately, I listen to my body more than my head emoticon I am down to 204 pounds and even those last 5 pounds to be out of the 200's aren't motivating me.

On a happier note :) I went up to ACC yesterday and signed up to go take my entrance exam on Wed. and get to start taking classes on May 2.

Personally, I've been using the "fake it until you make it" as my motivation motto.. I've never really tried to be healthy for anything longer than a few weeks, mostly due to lack in motivation. Although I still lack that motivation, I'm faking that I have it. I'm sure it's not the most effective strategy out there, but it's all I have at the moment. I have a feeling, that once I see results, the motivation will come more naturally.

What are you taking at ACC?

I can relate....I feel the same way sometimes. When I'm feeling like this I often try and switch up my workout. I go through phases where the thought of doing cardio makes me want to pull out my hair, so instead I'll go to the gym and only do weights, or I will try to do fitness classes at the gym to change it up. I find that helps me. Sometimes to keep motivated you have to do something different. Lately when I am having a tough time exercising I tell myself "I'm leaner than I was before this workout" I read the quote in a book....I thought it was pretty great and it keeps me motivated!

I totally understand how you are feeling. I love going to the gym but I can really only get there 2-3 times per week. I am really struggling to get moving on my own at home. Somehow the treadmill in the dark and dreary basement is just not doing it for me.

Maybe it is just the habit of being home is hard to break. I
just got back from a walk with the kids - it was slow but I was out and moving! Instead of a video - try heading outside.
