weird chocolate cravings, a triathlon, and one week til home sweet home :)

“A woman that doesn’t like chocolate is like a sin against nature.” I’ve been told this very thing many times throughout my life. Growing up I just didn’t like chocolate very much. I would never say I hated it, I just didn’t crave it. Even when I have my monthly visit from Mother Nature I don’t usually run to chocolate, I run to salty snacks. I don’t know what it is lately but I have been munching and craving chocolate like it’s going out of style. This craving started about a month ago when I was out at the store with a friend doing some grocery shopping. In preparation for the Easter season, mini candy bars can be found everywhere. I like to have a small dessert every night so I don’t feel like I am depriving myself. It’s a way of saying “hey, awesome workout and great job eating healthy.” So while at the store I picked up two bags of candy. One bag of mini twix bars and one bag of mini kit kat bars. I figure if I had one every night I would be just fine. And at first it was. I would have one small one a few hours after dinner and all would be okay but lately I have just completely fallen off the “one for dessert bandwagon”…..for example…im pretty sure I ate like 8 or 9 of them today. WHAT IS GOING ON!!! WHY AM I HAVING THESE RIDICUOUS CRAVINGS!!! Maybe my will power is lacking but this has got to stop!!!

On another note (its slightly ironic)….I decided about 2 weeks ago that I am going to do a triathlon. A mini triathlon but a triathlon nonetheless. It’s an Iron Girl sprint triathlon that will take place in Boulder, Colorado in late August and I couldn’t be more excited. How awesome is it going to be when I can say that I ran a triathlon before I was 20 years old!!!! This is going to be brutal but worth every bit of it.
I was a little timid at first because I wasn’t going to have anyone to do it with but then one of my best friends told me that I can’t live my life only doing what other people do, it’s time to spread my wings and fly! I told my family about it and everyone is so supportive, my kid sister might even do it with me!

I have one week left of my freshman year of college and then I’m headed to home sweet home! I guess its true, “you never know what you got til it’s gone.” I use to hate Colorado Springs. I hate cold weather and love it here in Texas but truth be told I can’t wait to be back in good old CO springs! I can’t wait to beast the incline with my friends; go to farmers markets on the weekends, and just all the wonders of summer. I will be in school Monday thru Thursday ( I got accepted to the National Personal Training Institute) but will definitely be having an awesome time most weekends. Also I can’t wait to be home with a real kitchen. As much as I love UTSA I can’t wait to be home and do some real cooking. Being at college with no kitchen and no car is like living in a hotel for 8 months (only you don’t get room service and someone to clean your room …LOL!). Imagine eating out every meal (breakfast, lunch and dinner) for nearly 8 months! It’s just disgusting. Even the salad tastes like fast food. I think that when I get home I’m going to do a fast food cleanse. I have to get all the nasty grease and processed food out of my system….yuck!!!! It’s time to start eating like a tri-athlete!!!

Well, I have blabbed on long enough….i hope everyone has a fantastic week!
