low carb keeps T2 away; is high fat lining my veins?
Sunday, May 29, 2011
In 1990 I was finally diagnosed with T2 diabetes. After a childhood of fainting hypoglycemic spells, 2 gestational diabetes pregnancies, here it was.
Low carbing eliminated it within 6 months. Dropped a lot of weight that had seemingly suddenly appeared while on a vegetarian diet. The hypoglycemia was gone as well.
Fine until a couple of years ago. Started putting on weight again. Looked at what I was eating and wondered if it was sheer calories putting on the weight.
Sparkpeople counting for me gave me a startling jolt. I was eating 3000 calories despite keeping low carb.
Each day as I look at the nutritional analysis and it gently nags about my low carbs and high fat, I wonder if I should also start focusing on increasing carbs and decreasing fat. Will I bring back diabetes or the hypoglycemic events?
