MY SWEET MOTHER

I went to see my Mother in the Nursing Home yesterday. I took her a milkshake and I had to make her take a few breaks while drinking it because I was afraid she would get a headache. The shake was a big hit with her. She drank the whole thing in about 10 minutes. For the rest of my visit, she just smiled and had a nice conversation. When I say conversation, it is not a real conversation, she mainly speaks gibberish.
Our conversations are one-sided and I always enjoy them. When she is in a good mood like that I even think she enjoys our visits too. Especially when she wants to give me a kiss and then she wants to kiss and squeeze my hand. I never thought of myself as a 'Mama's girl' but I think I am and it is a good feeling. Mother is 90 years of age and seems determined to be on this earth as long as she can. Now I know where I get my stubbornness.
If I turn out to be like my mother, I could do a whole lot worse. As I said, she is a very sweet mother and even though she is still alive, I miss her because she is just a shadow of her former self. I hope to have her with me for a long time.
