about time I did an update

Monday, August 29, 2011

I decided to go down this past weekend to spend some time with my sister Red. Since she and her children live with my mom I got to see her as well. We had a good visit although not a relaxing one. My sister is battling an incurable liver disease. If her last checkup had gone well she wouldn't have had to go back for another year. But unfortunately, it didn't. It was something we suspected by the way she has been feeling lately. All of her numbers were elevated so they did an ultrasound. She has her 2nd liver biopsy 9/7 at 9:30am.

This weekend we decided to go to the zoo. Usually it rains every time I come down. I was there when they had the 100 year flood. I promise I didn't bring it. I got the job of pushing momma in the wheelchair. ALL over Nashville zoo. Up and down hills. Why do they put zoos where there are hill? I was huffing and puffing. Not sure how to record that so I didn't.

While I was in Nashville I made good choices in what I ate. I noticed my sister eats way too much carbs and sugar. It's like once she starts she can't stop. She also complains about her stomach hurting all the tim . I asked her if she talked with her dr at Vanderbilt about gluten in tolerance. She said she would.

One thing I realized this weekend, I can't fall apart and deal with my weight after this is over. We don't know what is instore for us. One thing I do know is if it's not this it will be something else. I can exercise. There are 24 hours in a day. I can eat healthier by planning meals and prepping what I can. I can drink plenty of water. I can get a good nights sleep.

Life goes on. I'm less than 4 weeks out from the Nashville 1/2 marathon. I'm planning on getting up off my sorry behind and getting some serious time in. I can do this. I won't have the time I wanted as I didn't the training needed or lost the weight I wanted to. But I can and will do the race.

I have 3 more vacation days to take and I want to do some camping and hiking. My favorite season is right around the corner. Yeah Autumn.

I'm glad you had a good visit with family. Too many of us get too busy to remember how important that is.

    I like autumn too!
When I want to record exercise but not know how far I went, I average 1 mile for every 20 minutes walking. Maybe you can do something similar if you want to record fitness minutes in the future, but SP always reminds us not to list every single thing we do because it turns up in the daily metabolic rate anyway.
If you do the HM be careful not to risk injury, that would simply set you back. I know I could not do an HM with only 4 weeks preparation. Good luck!
