I don't have time for this!

Exercise. We make every excuse not to do it. This blog came out of a conversation I had with a friend. I had been going through a depression, and as a result, I stopped going to the gym. This is one of the worse things I could have done. There have been studies that show that going to the gym is just effective as an anti depressant for a lot of people. So this got us talking about the other benefits...

helps manage stress
promotes circulation
helps us sleep better
promotes a happier outlook on life (endorphins are powerful things)
improves sex (the whole improve circulation thing)
help prevent muscle loss as we age
help prevent bone loss as we age (weight bearing)
makes the skin glow
...and...the reason most of us do it...
burns calories/fat

And yet, we claim we are too busy. (I know. I'm not immune to this. I work two jobs. Sometimes that's too convenient of an excuse.)

Too busy ? For what? Be healthier, happier people?

Just my take on it.

There's a great video on youtube called 23 and a half hours that suggests looking at it as you have 23 and a half hours to do everything else instead of half an hour to exercise. Plus a lot of cool health informationg and, big surprise, illustrations!! Not mine, but other people's illustrations are what made me decide to try my own!

It's funny how often we "don't have time" for things but have time for Spark, Facebook, Twitter, TV and random internet surfing. Now don't get me wrong there are some days when there just aren't enough hours to get it all done and that's ok...once in a while. But we all know we can set aside 30 minutes to get moving, burn some gristle, shake our groove thing, whatever floats your boat but we can all do something for 30 minutes.

We say we don't have time, but really it is that we don't want to expend the effort required to exercise. Quick fixes is the name of the game!

Except, we lose at that game...

Ok, true, exercise is critical in the formula for longevity, weight management, stress management, health and fitness. BUT if one is eating a meat based phakephood diet I would not recommend going to the gym, nor aerobic exercise. Together they are killers!

That being said quite boldly, I do not worry about you exercising.

You do know that you are moving around and exercising when you are moving around, right? That does count!

I clean houses for many reasons for a business. I never thought of this as exercise. DUH! Most people cannot keep up with me and it keeps me healthy and fit.

    You RAWk baby!
