Health and Spiritual thought

I shared something with a Spark friend who thought my thought was worthwhile. I decided to share it publically in case others find it so and so I will be sure to remember it.

Years ago I took a class that used the first portion of Genesis to discuss the nature of God and Man. The concept that God made Man in His image implies that as we need to love and respect God so do we need to love and respect each other and OURSELVES. We are all made in the image of God. To me it follows that when we nourish our bodies properly and exercise as we should and do other things to bring ourselves and our bodies to a state of health and well being that we are doing a holy act and showing respect to one of God's creations.

I am going to try to hold on to this should I slip into "stinking thinking" and self destructive behavior.

As for my life - I am tracking food and exercise daily. I am meeting my protein needs and finding it easier to eat. Last night I was able to even swallow my antacid (my surgeon told me I could swallow it weeks ago but it hurt then so I have been taking the contents in applesauce). With the ease in eating I have to pay more attention to my portion sizes and knowing to stop eating after my meals. It is going well. I am cleaning out my closet and getting rid of most of my clothes. All the clothes I had before my last weight gain fit nicely now and I went on a bit of a splurge this week enjoying clearance sales to add some summer weight tops to my wardrobe. It is going to be great to just get dress without having to do a lot of trying on ( I hope of course these will be too big soon) I joined the SparkPeople sleep challenge and decided it is time to step up my health by making sure I am not sleep deprived. Lots of baby steps needed!

Thank you for sharing your concept and faith with me personally and I am so proud of you that you turned it around and let everyone hear it. That's living according to His will. Those of us who continue to grow in faith will eventually never worry about even the pettiest of things because all He asks is that we believe in our heart and treat others with the same unselfish love he gave to the world. This is what SparkPeople is about - this is why what we gain as a result of our efforts is more than skinny clothes, it's a new outlook on life, one filled with peace, love and the knowledge that the journey we take while difficult matters TODAY to more people than we realize. When true faith sinks in, it starts seeping out in the way you talk to and treat others, and how you can handle any situation that comes into your life. I am making progress on a similar path spiritually and know that loving myself and taking care of the gift of this body is only a close second to God's grace for us. Anyone who meets you is going to be a better person for getting to know you. You are beautiful, loved and blessed indeed....."Sprink"

emoticon lol, we want to shrink out of the clothes we just bought! :::nods::: seems like I've wanted that forever, and there was a time, when years after years, i persistently gained weight... and the smaller clothes became less & less possible. Isn't it wonderful that we are going the other way now???? I would agree with you ~ taking care of ourselves, emotionally, physically, spiritually is not selfish, but essential, and as we are taught by the word. Good lesson to learn & remember. Thank you for sharing it :)

emoticon With God's help, we can do anything.
Isn't that the catch... we want new clothes, but we hope to shrink out of them.
