Weight loss rewarded at quilt festival

Last week I disappeared from SparkPeople to attend my annual marathon quilting event, International Quilt Festival in Houston,Tx. It is an unbelievably large event with 2 full convention center halls of vendors and 2 full halls of exhibits. I also take classes on the third floor of the building so there is a massive amount of walking and carrying supplies and purchases.
This year was very different than the last few years. The show opens at 5pm on a Wednesday for those pre-registered and at 7 pm for the ticket holding public. I usually start with the vendors since they get really hard to shop when the show is in full swing. My husband meets me at 7 and helps haul purchases. I managed to get through most of the vendors the first night ( fairly unusual) since the show is open until 10 pm and there are 20 packed aisles to walk through. Generally by the time I get to the end of the vendors, I have had to reserve a rental scooter to have help seeing the quilts because my feet, knees, hips and back are in pain from 5 hours of walking on concrete. NOT THIS YEAR. My feet were a bit unhappy but I was able to walk and I was not in severe pain. I made it through every aisle at least twice and saw all the quilts, all on foot. The best part was, I finished the show without being in agony (the agony always slowed me down but did not stop me). I know the difference was the weight loss. I noticed that I was getting sore when carrying my purchases until I off-loaded them on my husband. I am so glad I have off-loaded the extra body weight I carried for years.

I had an added bonus. I've been sewing and quilting in this city for a long time and always run I to people I know at this show. It was really fun hearing the reaction of people who haven't seen me in a long time. One long term acquaintance was working in a booth and I went to give her a hug. She looked horrified and then realized who I was, she did not recognize me at first. I had lots and lots of compliments.

Now I need to get back to daily tracking. I've done we'll enough with my food choices and I have added exercise back in. I do know that I must do daily logging too and I am making a commitment to myself to do it.
