Day 3: Holding Steady

Friday, February 15, 2013

Hi, everybody!

I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day. Sorry it's a little late, but I didn't get a chance to get on Sparkpeople at all yesterday.

We had a Forensics meet yesterday after school. I'm not sure if Forensics is a universal term or not. In some schools, it might be called Speech. Anyway, we left school a little early to get there in time and the meet lasted a few hours. All of our students did well enough to make it to the next level of competition! I didn't get home until almost 10:00 last night. By the time I made myself something to eat and unwound a bit, it was 10:30. That's way too late for me to stay up on a school night! emoticon I'll admit it, I usually hope to be asleep by 9:30 or 10:00 so I can get up at 6:00 and feel well-rested. I know some people don't need as much rest, but I've learned over the years that I do.

So I didn't find time to Spark. Since I wasn't tracking, I was very conservative about what I ate as I didn't want to eat over my calorie range. At the Forensics meat, I basically had one sandwich and then some baby carrots and cherry tomatoes. They had three desserts that I chose not to eat! When I got home, I was hungry again, so I had a Lean Cuisine meal and a candy bar. Today, when I entered yesterday's food into the tracker, I discovered I actually ate a couple hundred calories below my calorie range! Much better than the alternative, of course.

I made it through Valentine's Day without binging or eating outside of my calorie range at all! I did get some treats throughout the day. I guess I could have declined the offers, but I figured I could share with my hubby and I could still have some sweets from time to time. I don't want to try to completely go without, as I know I won't be able to stick with it.

I got most of my treats on Thursday, though I did get one piece of candy on Wednesday and got the little plastic bag with some M&M's and NERDS in it today. I kept stockpiling everything and then brought them home today.

It makes me feel good to look at my little treasure trove and know it means I did not eat these sweets immediately upon receiving them. Most of them will stay good for awhile, so there's no rush to eat them, but of course the cookies won't last forever.

Anyway, today was a pretty good day. I was kind of tired and just wishing for the weekend, but the day actually went very fast. After I got home, I did just enough housework to get the house back in order a bit after not doing any housework when I got home last night. My husband got home from work today and had some belated Valentine's Day presents for me (a soft, fluffy, cozy blanket and a stuffed animal--no candy, smart man!). Then he made me it when he cooks for me.

Not a very exciting Friday night around here. My brother-in-law came over, and we're just sitting around watching "Archer." I'll probably leave the guys to it pretty soon and go and watch "The West Wing" in the other room. I predict I'll probably fall asleep pretty early.

Well, I guess that's about it for this blog. Hope you all have a good weekend!
