The truth about BBQ'd Ribs

Thursday, June 27, 2013

Well, I blew it for lunch yesterday and let me tell you why. I had to take my dad to do his banking since he may not be driving any more and I know he really likes Boston Market because I had taken him a meal over for last Father's Day. So here's the thing, we go in there and they were promoting their BBQ Rib dinner, which they say will only be on their menu for a limited time so my dad decided to get the meal and I thought, why, I should try it so knowing it would be way up there in calories I rationalized to myself I will only get the ribs which I did and enjoyed them, promised myself to track them later.

Much to my surprise, they had a whopping 49 grams of fat; and that truly floored me. Well, I'm going to tell my accountability partner I blew it.

Lesson learned and EXPERIENCE is still the best teacher. This was truly a two step forward and one step back!

Anyone ever have a similar encounter that you would like to share?

I haven't had ribs in a while because I don't digest them so great anymore.

But yes, I've had a few surprises like that along the way.
Just keep on tracking and move on.

Lots of sugar also. I like our Texas style mesquite smoked barbecue. When I first came here I said, that isn't barbecue and didn't like it. Now I love it.

I'm glad now places are putting up their nutritional information. I wish where I lived it was right there when ordering. You did enjoy the ribs so don't beat yourself up too much. You'll move on from this. This is a lifestyle, not a race to the end. emoticon
