A whole month on SparkPeople..Wow!

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

I wouldn't really say that I have lost any fluctuates throughout the day.
162- when I wake up
165-166 ish after I have ate
maybe I have...I don't know.. 165 is my starting weight, but whatever..

Ok, so moving on, I am really proud of myself! I have gained a lot of muscle, I always try and eat the healthier options. I try to at least fit in some exercise everyday but it is hard with school. On the weekends I really try and push myself because I don't get much done on the weekdays. I am walking home now at least 2 days a week which is about 2 miles in one day and when I walk home I have a huge heavy backpack on my back which makes me feel like I am making better progress...I have been drinking a LOT more water than I ever did before. I don't know, but I am just trying to substitute things in since I am not able to be at home and exercise like I wish I could.

Happy 1 month! Thank you to everyone who has helped me!

Hi, I have been on here for a few months now, since Mother's Day Weekend. I had never tried to follow a diet, count calories or join any weight loss groups before this. I would say you are doing just fine! You didn't put the weight on in one day, or one month, and it's not going to come off that fast either. As of today I have lost 13 Lbs and some inches too. Don't worry too much about the scale as it can drive you crazy. My weight has been bouncing around too. It is normal for your weight to bounce around 0-2 lbs normally every day anyways. And you will be making muscle that weighs more than fat too, so that will also throw things off. So instead of thinking of it as you want to lose 20 or so Lbs, think of it as you want to learn a new way of living that will help you be fitter and healthier for life! Slowly start to eat more whole foods, and less processed foods, more baked or grilled foods than fried foods, more fruits and veggies than junk food. And just start moving more and more each day! And I am sure in no time you will be losing the weight too! You might be already losing inches and not even know it if you are not measuring. I say to measure yourself at least once a month if not maybe 2 times a month. You can weigh yourself daily or weekly, what ever you want, but just don't get so wrapped up in it. Don't worry so much about the weight and inches right now, and just concentrate on making new good health choices and the rest will follow. I went from sitting at a computer most of the time day and night, so like a couch potato, but really just an internet junkie, to running my first 5 K tomorrow. All my best to you always! emoticon I also just recently agreed to be one of three co-leaders of one of the groups in here too. emoticon

You are off to a great start because you are able to take pride in what you are doing!! So many of us struggle and refuse to recognize and applaud the effort we are making. You will do fine!! If you haven't lost weight yet it is probably because you are gaining muscle which will eventually burn more calories than fat. Also you may well have lost inches; I think you will notice your clothes fitting better regardless of the weight. emoticon

emoticon I would say you're doing everything right. Not worrying about weight is the best thing you can do. Exercise and water equal weight gain from muscle and hydration. Then one day, when your body is ready, it will just start dropping. By this time you will have already lost a size and feel like a million. emoticon and emoticon

Take your body measurements. Check your blood pressure. While you may not necessarily see the numbers changing yet, I'll bet other things are. Try not to get too hung up on the scale. emoticon

Great job so far! Have you tried measuring yourself? That is usually a better way to track your progress! The scale can be evil sometimes! That's awesome that you started walking too! Every little bit helps!
