A Walk on Leisure Lane
Friday, September 20, 2013
Walking is a wonderful pastime (as well as good exercise) for the casual observer. It gives one the chance to watch time pass as the leaves change from green to golden, to rust, or red and bring a new beauty to the land. Grasshoppers are doing their hopping and wooly worms are moseying across the sidewalk. The cicadas have finally toned down their songs, and there is a lazy peacefulness to a morning walk when even the sun seems to come up slowly, enjoying the orange and pink sky where it shines. While moving on down the road with speed burns more calories, sometimes a leisurely walk from here to there is more than satisfying to the soul. Rushing past the changes occurring all around is like wishing one's life away. Take a child or grandchild along on a walk when you can, and watch as tiny discoveries are made under a rock or around a corner. Savor the time spent with a child or with nature, and enjoy your walk, making memories that last a lifetime.
