It's Good To Be Sore
Thursday, January 23, 2014
Not long ago I did an activity that really made me sore, like for 2 days sore! I had just started my treadmill routine and had no muscle tone what-so-ever. However, I am happy to report, I did make it through that activity, which lasted many hours, and had the sore muscles to prove it for 2 days later. It was the best kind of sore - the kind that reminds you that there are, in fact, muscles under a much-too-heavy shape. Muscles that can be exercised, stretched and pulled back into shape to make you stronger, more flexible and have better endurance.
Since then, I have been much more active, not only ensuring I get on my treadmill every day, but also in watching what I eat and shedding the weight. But, today, on the treadmill I pushed myself to go faster, walk stronger and keep up the incline....and, I felt sore. Not a lasting sore, which means I didn't push myself hard enough and there is room for improvement, but the kind of sore that says you are heading in the right direction. Push yourself harder. You can do it.
