Karumba has a gym

Saturday, February 01, 2014

Hi sparkpeople,

Karumba now has a gym the only one in a 600km radius. I joined because my friend who has used a gym said she would go with me. She took one look at the equipment and freaked out. It was all computerised modern stuff.

OK here is the first laugh. I got on this thingy with two big rollers that you tuck your feet under one and straighten your legs lifting the roller. It would not budge I tried again still would not budge. was a man there I asked him if it was locked. He fiddled about under the
seat and said right to go now. Still I could not lift it. I asked if he locked or unlocked it.
He then looked at the weight's and said you are trying to lift 50kg with the top of your feet.
How red is red. I changed it to 5kg and lifted it no trouble.

Now it is obvious that this little black duck has never been in a gym before. I am using 4 machines not the ones which look like a torcher machine and the bike and walking machine I do 15 min on the walker and love it. I am still doing my 30min morning walk each day. Sometimes if it is not too hot I ride my bike in the afternoon also.

Now for results. I am gob smacked I put on 200g this week however, for the month I have been going to gym. I am down 1kg but wait there is more.
I have lost a total cm's of 6 all up. Neck .5, bust 1.0, midriff 1.5, waist .5, hips 1.5 & thigh .5
now you got to be happy about that.

There are no instructors or person in charge we had to sign a waiver which I was cool with that and you are issued with an electronic key to gain entry. It is air conditioned (temp 36 to 40 everyday outside) and you are asked to wipe machines when finished. After a couple of weeks going we upped it to 3 days a week but only for 30min a session. Now Hubby has joined he said someone has to keep an eye on you but he is using the machines.

Nov last year I had 6 nerves burnt in my back so at present I feel no pain they will grow back and I am having it done again in May. My aim is to get as fit a possible whilst I am pain free.

So our sleepy little town where you cannot buy a bra, undies, shoes or any fashion items is coming of age. We do not have a swimming pool either.
Thank you for reading this from your fellow sparker Sylvia
