Warning - self pity ahead

Plantar fasciitis sucks.

After 8 weeks of a night boot, steroids and limited exercise I finally got to an ortho.

More "conservative treatment" ahead. More night boot (different boot of course) and $$$ orthotics (probably for life they casually mentioned).

Only allowed exercises are: swimming (can't do, have bad neck discs), exercise bike (kills my knee if I go hard enough to get heart rate up) or elliptical (hurt my hips last time I tried - will try to start really slow and build up - hate that machine worse than treadmill).

No yoga, no water jogging, no weights, etc and wear SHOES/ORTHOTICS ALL THE TIME (my shoes are off the second I get in the door usually).

I am seriously bummed.

Prognosis - 6-12 weeks to be able to restart running. 6-12 months to be anything close to where I was in October (admittedly, I was awesome in October, but still....)

I know it could be worse, but I can't say I have a lot of faith in this process. Went through something similar a few years ago and after 4 months of treatment they basically said "we can't do anything more, learn to live with chronic tendonitis" It took a year of experimenting, but I got functional again on my own... feel like I'm back to square one.

Only bright spot of the visit? They said that at 57 I'm probably in better physical shape than most 21-year-olds!
