weigh-in #4

Today was my monthly weigh-in day. I lost 11 pounds this month, which I'm very happy about.

I changed-up my fitness routine about a month ago. I increased the intensity of my work-outs----mostly running----while radically decreasing the amount of time spent on fitness (I love walking, but it takes forever and I am busy). The results in terms of weight loss are more or less the same as those of the previous 3 months. The difference lies really in the effects of intense physical activity versus the effects of walking. Same results, less time. I also feel better physically.

I have been careful, since starting at SP, to eat within my calorie limits (almost) every day and to increase my caloric intake on fitness days. While I eat very well as it is (1200-1400 on non-fitness days and 1400-1550 on fitness days) I am going to allow myself another 100 calories per day. I'll re-evaluate my eating again at my next weigh-in on October 24th.

While 10 pounds a month has been really great, I know it is not going to last. And that is perfectly fine. I am not in a rush. This has all just been a bonus, and from I can see, pretty normal for individuals without disabilities or limitations of any sort in the first few months at Sparkpeople. I am definitely in it for the long haul and I am prepared mentally (I think) for whatever comes next.

I am not sure I could have accomplished this on my own, and still be in such a positive, committed frame of mind. I am very much indebted to this community of spark people, many of whom challenge me, inspire me, and give me much needed perspective on myself and my journey. Thank-you for being here!

    Congrats on the 11 lbs. It's great when the scales register a downward trend, but when it's epic it's SO much better!

    Holy crapola, I just noticed you hit Onederland. How awesome is that? How do you feel about it? Like it's a major milestone or just another milestone in the road?

    Weight loss is what happens between living your life. Some days it falls off, others you have to scare it into submission so it vanishes the next week.

    Living is what is important, and you have grasped that already! ;)

    Congratulations on your loss! I know what you mean about walking, it takes awhile, and sometimes you just can't get the time, especially if you have a lot of "irons in the fire"! How great that you are feeling better too.

    That is awesome! I agree sparkepople really helps keep momentum and motivation going much longer then if you were doing this in a vacuum. thank god we all have each other, huh? :)

    Awesome achievement! I think you can safely increase your caloric intake by 100 calories with zero detrimental effects. I actually designate one day a week as my "reward day" when I consume an extra 500 calories that day. After all, cheesecake is a VERY important food group. :)

    Nice Job! I know how you feel about walking, I def miss the leisurely pace, but I don't have a lot of time, so its nice to hit the street and return home energized. Keep up the positive mindset.

    Well hello Chiquita,

    Congratulations on the 11 pound loss. I guess running thirty minutes through the rain chilled to the bone with soaked undies does have it's pay offs.

    Your getting the hang of this blogging thing too.. Does it still make you uncomfortable? How are things going with your crock pot team? Learn to make anything special this month?

    I'm glad your getting similar results while walking long periods of time or running short periods of time. In some ways I wish I could run because at the pace I'm keeping it takes me about an 1 hour and 45 minutes to walk 4 miles. and that can get time consuming. Time is precious as you well know with everything you have got going on..
