How time flies

Wednesday, October 01, 2014

Wow! It has almost been a year since I last posted anything!
Dr's have been pushing me to have gastric bypass surgery. I am too scared and refused. So, seeing that I was at my highest weight EVER, I plucked up courage from somewhere and just started doing something. This time the whole family is in it with me!
It is early days yet. I don't want to shout my weight loss from the mountain tops, as I do still have about a person and a half to lose. However, this month has been good all things considered.
I have to add, it has been easier than I anticipated. Not once in 4 weeks have we eaten junk food or at a restaurant - a great feat for us as a family! We are eating well and yummy food. My kids and husband thinks I have turned into a cook of note. ( thank you google and recipe books!!)

I just wanted to check in. Talk again in 4 weeks time - hopefully I can give another positive report.

Good for you changing your eating habits and your positive outlook only adds to your being successful! As for WLS do what is best for you. I had the VSG surgery 6/24/14 and I was terrified too! But a Congestive Heart Failure diagnosis and almost dying June 9, 2013 made me realize I needed help. Do what you can to be healthy and strong, it does not matter how we reach the destination, just that we do. I am 69 pounds down and feel like a new person.

I'm glad you refused gastric bypass and that you have come back to Spark! I had a friend who had it done (at 420 lbs) and lost 100 lbs, then gained it all back. The thing is, surgery or no surgery it IS possible to gain weight back once you've lost it. I'm sure we have all gained weight once lost. I know I have many times.
The support from you family is awesome! I hope you all keep it up for a healthier you and a healthier them.
Keep it up. Healthy is forever!

You can do it! I've been yo-yoing around the same 15 pounds since going back to work two years ago. Thanks for the renewed inspiration. :)
