I don’t think I have gone this long without blogging since joining SP back in May 2009. I could blame it on the holidays, but mine were actually pretty quiet this year. I could blame it on work, but with the hiring of an Administration Assistant and account in our department, things have eased tremendously. I have been able to work on projects that had been pushed to the back burner such as developing a weekly office newsletter, working with the boss on technology upgrades and remodeling of outdated conference rooms – much more fun than doing the accounting!
So why has it been so long since I have blogged? I really can pinpoint it on any one thing.
Life overall has been pretty good – Mike and I are doing GREAT, my sons are healthy, happy and doing well in school, and my house is still standing, despite the roof still not completely done. Like I said, we had a pretty quiet holiday season – two Thanksgiving meals, just five of us Christmas Eve, four Christmas Day and a bigger Christmas celebration on New Year’s Day. I did stay up until midnight on New Year’s Eve for the first time since 2008. My youngest son and I watched Rockin’ New Year’s Eve while Mike slept in the recliner.
The New Year has brought sadness and happiness already. A good friend lost her battle with cancer on the 3rd, and Monday morning Mike’s daughter-in-law gave birth to his third grandchild – a healthy baby girl. She did come into the world with some fanfare – she was born at home, delivered by her daddy before the paramedics arrived. She will have such a wonderful story to tell.
Mike and I are still going through family squabbles on both sides, but have decided to stay clear of as many as we can. For too long, I have let others control my stress level. Now, I choose to not stress over problems that I have no control over. It only hurts me and doesn’t change the problems.
I choose me, Mike, my sons and those who want to take part in my life.
I didn’t make any “resolutions” but have set healthy goals. I want get to a healthier place, and be better able to enjoy life!
I hope that all good things come your way too!
