When do Good Habits become Poor Habits?

Friday, May 01, 2015

Blog about your resolutions/goals is my assignment for my team's interim BLC challenge today. Just spent quite some time writing my blog and poof it's disappeared just as I was to post it. emoticon

Have to get to bed now so here's the extremely shortened version of what I had written. Just can't take the time to rewrite the blog in its entirety.

I have identified one main non scale goal as I did last round of BLC to focus on.

For the 12 weeks of BLC28 I plan to engage in more mindful eating so as to develop better nutrition habits which will bring me closer to my goal weight.

Nutrition has become my main stumbling block as I believe I have started using the nutrition tracker as a way to determine what to eat and how much to eat. I am not letting my body and mind guide me in my decisions but it's purely the number of calories I'm allowed so I eat the entire meal without thought of whether I'm hungry. I eat it because it's part of my calorie allotment for that meal. I need to be more aware so that if I'm full I stop eating what's in front of me because I don't have to finish what's on the plate. I also let my snacking be determined by whether I've maxed out my calorie intake for the day. Rather than checking in with the tracker to determine how much I can eat for snacks I will choose nutritious snacks considering portion control when I need the nourishment. If I am going to be more aware of what my body and mind are telling me while I am eating I need to engage in less distracted eating, slow down when I eat, and chew and savour every bite.

Last round's goal saw a successful turn around in my habits after the 12 weeks. Hoping this round's goal is as successful.
