Struggling with PF - hanging in there

Tuesday, June 09, 2015

No blog in over a year... Recovering from PF has been a long hard slog. The worst was over in 5 months, just as predicted. However, any uptick in activity or slacking off from stretching is rewarded with flare-ups... It's an iffy situation and rather discouraging.

In a good week, I signed up for a half-marathon in the fall - the Wineglass in October.

This week I added new shoes (to be worn without the orthotics) and did a short interval session. Now it's all in doubt again, as the foot has flared quite painfully. I'll be taking a few days off and stretching and staying hopeful.

And that's kind of how it's been. Any increase comes with a price, but a few days backing off seems to do the trick. This time it's significantly more painful than before, so I'm just crossing my fingers I haven't put the foot back to painful square one. Sigh.

I have worked up to a nine mile run, and the race isn't until October, so I have time... just was hoping I wouldn't need it!

Hanging in there, doing lots of cross-training (I've gotten rather good at swimming laps and doing yoga!) Fingers crossed!

Carol, I hate to hear about the shoes and the pain. I hope that once you rest it and go back to the inserts things will be much improved. The Wineglass is on my bucket list for
"destination" races....sounds like such a fun time!
