Random Thoughts, New Member Challenge

Sunday, November 01, 2015

After a long, (practically nonexistent), Summer,

(which is my very most favorite season because I love being hot and sweaty because I hate be cold and shivering).....What was I saying?

Oh yes, after a long summer battling Asthma and prednisone, I am 8 pounds heavier,

(but at least I'm still breathing, if only because of taking drugs that I really hate to take, but at least I'm alive and finally getting some sleep).....oops off topic again,

(I wonder if that happens to other people? Oh Lord it happens to me in actual conversations. How embarrassing emoticon

So anyway, I decided to do the Spark New Member Challenge,

(even though my Sparkversary is coming up in December and I've been an active Sparker for 6 years, now that is doubly embarrassing since I have gained back most of the weight I lost, emoticon emoticon

So anyway, for day 6 the challenge was to blog about my progress. So I am here, (Day 8), blogging about my progress.

Day 1 - Check on the wall - emoticon Interestingly, I found a few other long time Spark Friends are also doing the New Member Challenge. I also found that the Team Wall is a great place to lend and receive support. I haven't paid much attention to the Wall before other than posting Leader Announcements.

Day 2 - Learn to love my Start Page emoticon I do as much as I can on my Start Page first thing in the morning, then revisit a couple of times during the day as time allows.

Day 3 - Track a meal emoticon Anyone who has shared a 5% Challenge Team with me, knows I have difficulty creating the habit of using the food tracker. Years of tracking with pen and paper really had me in a comfort zone. I am happy to say, I am becoming more faithful with using the tracker, and I can honestly say the information it gives is so much more than I ever thought I knew.

Day 4 - Take a 10 minute walk. emoticon This day was actually about using the Fitness tracker. I don't always remember to add things not synced by my fitbit.

Day 5 - Introduce yourself on a message board. I was going to copy/paste an introduction but I forgot to do it, so I'm giving myself a pass on this one.

Day 6 - Spark Page Smarts Blog about my progress. Here I am emoticon even if 2 days late. (I'm still gonna check that box and get my spark points if I can). emoticon emoticon 20 points even though I'm off track and 2 days late!

So the moral of this Random Thoughts blog is this:
1. Do your best, no one can ask more of themselves. emoticon
2. It doesn't matter if you're scatterbrained sometimes, as long as you use your brain. emoticon
3. If you get sick, emoticon do what you need to do to get well. (not the least of which is being a healthy weight).
4. Have a plan emoticon and if you get off plan for any reason, know you can get back on plan at any time and reap the benefits, no matter how many "day ones" you have!
5. Challenge yourself! emoticon Do a SP Challenge, join or start a challenge on one of your teams, or do it on your own.
6. And not necessarily last, and certainly not least, Stop beating yourself up. emoticon It only delays your new emoticon . The beginning where you have more knowledge and support than you've had in all your other new beginnings.
